    rFuktor ? experimental 3.9.9.8

    - This is the one of these last 4 to use. There we flaws and bugs that have been improved, so this is safer and better.

    Biggest improvement since 5.1.0.3, imho.

    * New grip slip algorithm on both front and rear.
    * Clear when oversteer happens.
    * Understeer can be felt by the tear in the front wheels. They start tearing right over peak slip angle instead.
    * 60% Grip loss on rear slide-out.
    * Safety clip on steering angle.
    * Added longitudinal grip slip calculation. Now grip loss on locking the tires is clearly felt. Thanks @GFoyle for noticing!
    * Fixed missing vel_x assignment for each grip calculation.

Credits to @carloscepinha for posting great feedback on several FFB profiles - it inspired some of the work in this file.

    Pretty well tuned, imo.

"low force boost"/LFB-slider is now primarily for reducing downforce and a slight boost of the center force. It can be used in the whole range. If you feel a car produces too much downforce at speed for your liking:
    a) reduce gain - the first thing you should do
    or
    b) increase the LFB significantly
    or
    c) a combination

    Start with ingame:
    - FX at 10%
    - LFB at 15%
    - Gain set so center and fast cornering both feel good. If it becomes too strong in either, lower the gain. On high df cars, with low LFB(15% for example) it is the idea that you should set gain low so cornering at speed feels pretty strong and driving slow is light.

Cars I have tested feel really good with this file. For me this feels "good enough" for now.
But I'm happy to tune and make changes depending on feedback, so if any issues or anything that can make it help you drive faster, I'm happy to hear it.

Feels good on brakes now too. I tried with the M1, GT1 Porsche, F-Ult gen2, Classics Porsche, which all felt good.

Finally I tried it on the Mini JCW and not sure about that one, does it work correcly on a FWD car? If I drive FWD BTCC car on rF2, the I get huge understeer effect when on throttle (wheel goes much lighter) and off throttle it's the opposite, which makes sense as it's a FWD car. With this file, I only got a bit of that understeer effect when on throttle and steering at the same time, but I'm not sure is the car just so capable or is there something to improve in the file for FWD cars. It feels I don't have nearly the same amount of understeer effect for the understeer I actually have compared to those RWD cars I tried it with.

    Try changing:

    (front_drive_torque_feel 0.05)
    to
    (front_drive_torque_feel 0.00)

That 0.05 as it is in the posted file adds a bit of fake force when the front tire pulls, and you likely don't want that, it sounds like.

    rFuktor ? experimental 3.9.9.9

same as 3.9.9.8 (read that description)

    +
    * Added longitudinal load scale. Adjust "long_load_shift_scale". Adds some front/rear weight transfer. @GFoyle
    * Fixed a bug where some earlier bump variable was still used, however never set.

This is probably the first custom that I have used where it starts to feel almost like cheating on how well I feel the important things to be able to play around with the limit and I have used quite a few good ones over time. Nice work.

ps. I know it's very subjective and it might be that this just suits me better...

A note on that last file, it feels slightly more relaxed if changing this line:

    (load_shift_effect (* load_shift long_load_shift_scale))
    to:
    (load_shift_effect (* (smooth load_shift 0.02) long_load_shift_scale))

or just download it with that minimal change here.

That was the exact expression I used when I was describing to Karsten my expectation and what I was asking of some custom_ffb tweaking ahah xD

is there a file which feels pretty much exactly like the untouched original ams2 custom
except has the content within the file for the user to turn each thing up as preferred ?

    rFuktor ? experimental 3.9.9.9.2

    * Added slightly more lateral load feeling. Adjust "lat_load_shift_scale" up/down for more or less of that.

This is an extra experiment, let me know if it's an improvement or not.

Regarding your last file, I was able to seamlessly transition to it and tbh it feels like while all the information I would get (in increasing scale) from just rack_force, to actual basic to default+... to some custom_ffbs... with this last file, everything is still there. It's really hard to point the finger at anything missing or finding anything that happened that I didn't feel.
My biggest surprise was actually using this file on the Merc C9 and it just works wonderfully.
And when I'm driving with it I'm even thinking a bit afraid, I'll be dependant on this ffb file forever, I won't ever be able to drive like this without it.

Karsten, Thank you so much for the amazing custom ffb files and all your efforts. The experimental 3.9.9.9.2 with lateral load feeling added creates a more natural feel in long corners to my subjective feel. This file relates more information I am looking for to drive closer to the edge and have the cleanest feel on my simagic alpha evo sport. This wheel base has been a delight but can exhibit a lot of grating/grinding from most custom ffb files as well as the default+ and default ffb files. Your files have brought the joy back to driving AMS2 with the amazing clean and informative feedback. What would be the simplest adjustment to make to get a bit more road surface feedback from small bumps etc. without interfering with the amazing detail that is already there? Again thank you for the incredible work that you have brought to this SIM.

    Thank you Terry,

Close to the top there are some "master" scales. One is for road, try increasing that slightly.
If you need more specific adjustments, search for texture_scale you should see various bump scales as well, right there as well as a suspension scale.

    Best,

    -Karsten

Hi Karsten. I haven't tried your last Custom yet, but I have all the others. There is just one thing that I must be doing wrong, as I can not get rid of the" rubber band" effect, no matter what I change. I have lowered Gain, increased Damping etc, but I just can't get it to feel less like a Bungy cord and feel like a real wheel. Suggestions would be appreciated. I do not have this with Kuku's and Daniel's files. Thanks mate.

    Hey Michael,

    What are your settings?
Ingame damping should be at 0, at least until it feels good otherwise.
    Also ingame, start at:
    Lfb 15
    Fx 10

On the base, disable any damping, inertia, friction.
    Just some slight smoothing.
Full power on the wheel base, at least at first.

Then the ingame gain to where it feels right.

But please remind me your base and post all current settings.

By "rubber band" do you mean letting go of the steering and oscillations happening?
Or that the steering feels wrong?

Absolutely perfect, that's what I was looking for. Below are the values I have made slight adustments to for just a bit more bump and kerb feel. I wanted just a bit more immersion from these features without being over the top.

    # Main dials
    (master_rack 0.85) #Rack and road scale.
    (master_road 1.20) #Road bumps, details and suspension
    (master_effects 1.50) #Effects scale.

    # Road features settings
    #

    (texture_scale 1.0)
    (micro_bumps_scale 0.475)
    (micro_bumps_smooth 0.006)
    (kerbs_surface_scale 5.2)
    (kerbs_surface_smooth 0.03)
(kerb_bump_scale 3.2) #How big the tall curb bumps are.
(large_track_bump_scale 0.055) #how much bumps on the track are felt.
    (symmetric_bump_scale 4)
(large_offroad_bump_scale 0.1) #how much bumps off the track are felt.

    Thanks,

By rubber Banding, I mean there is always a strong pull to centre, and past. Just like pulling tight on a rubber band and it springs back to centre and flings past. Hard to explain. I have tried all the settings you have mentioned, but will start again with Base settings on or near Zero, apart from gain of course, and In-Game starting with what you recommend. I'm not on the gaming PC at the moment, so can't give you settings. Will be on later and start from scratch, again, and let you know. Thanks.

Ok, after setting things as described and base at maximum strength, make sure to adjust ingame force down. It sounds like it's simply too high.

If there are no other issues or improvements to be made,
I think we will be ready to reveal what the "?" means soon, just would like to resolve @Michael Enright 's issue first.

If anybody's got any issues, noteworthy improvement ideas, or knows what Michael's issue might be, please post.
