The old profiles were developed at different times and in some places diverged in how they addressed computing and translating some things. While there are still a few differences a combination of fixing some things that were a bit off in each and bringing them together onto a more common base dna means there is a more natural relationship between the two than there ever was and jumping between them is probably more viable now if one or the other doesn't quite hit the spot after the revisions

You’re absolutely right — this is a problem, and I never meant to suggest otherwise. I agreed with your report about it being a bug, thanked you for pointing it out, and confirmed that a task has been created to track it.

The only clarification I wanted to make is that this behavior isn’t related to the new “disable autoload” option. It’s actually an older bug that’s reproducible even in older AMS2 versions, regardless of whether autoload is enabled or not. The new option was meant to address a different issue (setups autoloading immediately upon entering the session) and is working as intended.

The bigger picture here is that disabling autoload won’t fix all the setup issues by itself (just some of them, as confirmed internally) — but it also does help reduce one source of complexity, which should make it easier for us to address the remaining bugs.

Yes, that’s another known issue — deleting setups has never been fully reliable and it’s also on our list. The autoload option doesn’t relate to this behavior tho, but we do have a task for fixing the delete issues.

Theoretically, all cars in AMS2 could have their .crd and other associated files edited to create “one-car model-per-class” categories. Any takers?

Yeah, I get what you mean, and its a useful point. Once you make a setup change, it starts to work with saved slots (instead of pure defaults), so the Edit Setup menu tries to load it from a slot instead of from defaults, to be able to show the correct values, and thats probably where the bug comes from.

We cant disable it fully tho, as the system needs to load it from somewhere (if it was ever edited), but definitelly in some of the cases the load step could be safely skipped.

I agree with you. With TC1 the rear does step out and as you go higher TC the rear stops being aggressive, but as a result I lost time to my own delta because of engine cuts.

I would want to test it, but would low TC affect tire wear over full stint? Would that be realistic or within possibility? I would hope that it does. Ok, if you do 25-35 min race, it shouldn't be a major factor, but over full stint or even double stint? It would counter the idea of "why would I ever drive higher TC if I am losing time that way"? It counters meta setup issue and give more depth to the game. But again thats more 60min+, but driving low TC for 25 min race and quali is fine imo. So does sliding rear around and wheelspin affect tire wear and grip over 60+ min stint in real life?

I'm not sure doing TC 0 or very low is that great for race stint driving. On AMS2, you usually want to go throttle early quite a bit and having higher TC helps to make it stable and safe, especially on cars with more power. Most of those paid setups I have seen (GT3, LMP2, LMDh) had decent amount of TC for the race setups, even in the "esport" setup versions. Only in the qualifying version the setups were lower on the TC (can't remember seeing 0 ever though).

I rather be safer and more confident with throttle use (+not overheat my tires as easily) on race length. Usually confidence gives me better average lap times. TT and qualifying situation is of course different.

I was suggesting TC=0 to get a feel for the car. That way, you can determine what effect the normal amount of TC is having on handling and whether it is responsible for anything you don't like.

You shouldn't need it on a dry track, but of course any racer interested in winning will use whatever advantage they can get. If all the opponents are going to use it...

Apologies everyone, fair to say we are not having our finest release cycle this week...

A fix is already live now, hopefully with no further screws loose.
