I'd agree if those 90 degree corners were all the same but they aren't for the new Detroit. The track map just looks worse than how it actually is in the car.

Besides, I want more urban environments from Reiza, I also want more bumpy as hell tracks with no runoff and concrete walls right next to you. We have too little street circuits in AMS2

In reply to Lizardfolk, I agree, more street circuits are great, but let’s go for Macau first? Epic track, with much more character. Surfers Paradise would also be great.

Have you driven CTMP in any sims? I would have thought if you had then you might not have made that statement.

    I have.

I'm not a fan of long sweeping corners that throw a bunch of dirty air and makes it impossible to pass. And CTMP is all sweeping corners that's hard to follow in downforce cars.

IMSA doesn't even put the big LMDh cars there for their upcoming weekend.

They did last year and the racing was incredible (excuse the Acuras dominating). But other than that, the race was incredible. Much better than a small narrow spot where its even HARDER to pass.

Mosport have a great flow. It's a racers track, not a big money sponsor snoozefest where the only "excitement" comes only from concrete barriers being close increasing risk of crashes. Just like Caesar's Palace in F1.

And I'm the opposite, don't like little narrow street tracks with mickey mouse corners. Shows how different we all are hey.

I for one am one who loves racing in non-downforce cars, and love the fact that we might get Mosport in AMS2 to fill another vacant spot in the relatively sparse Formula Vintage 1967-69 racing calendars. Additionally, I have a tiny sliver of hope that the nearby karting track will be drivable, even if just as an easter egg.

The run up to the long straight into the hairpin is a great dive bomb corner that invites a lot of side by side. I wouldn't characterize the new Detroit as just tight corners where you can't pass.

But yes. Tight corners are fun to watch. It's like watching someone run on a tight rope. Serious skill to navigate that in an angry pack.

Mosport it’s my kind of track, fast and flowing, old school layout track, sweeping corners and elevation changes, without miles of runoff areas. What’s not to like?

I've tried to watch both IMSA and IndyCar there and found them both boring and uninspiring. Moves were indeed happening and often ending in one party in the tires.

It says something when commentators were cheering when there was a longer period without FCY.

It's still a no from me as it's not even nice to look at. Concrete all around.

The first indycar race was better than the second. 2024 drivers misbehaved a bit more. It can happen at any track. That sequence invites good racing that I bet will translate well in a sim. If I'm defending hard on the inside the guy around the outside will need to brave it and it's entirely possible with the way the hairpin leans away from the inside car at the apex.

I care less about how fun a track is to hotlap since I rarely do laps by myself or with AI outside of practicing for a league or preparing to run officials. And even when I'm practicing I'm running around with friends in a practice session.

I've had too many fun hotlap tracks turn into boring dirty air trains for 2 hours in league / online races for me to follow the crowd on "fast flowing tracks automatically means good"

Mosport is one of the few racetracks still with its original layout from all the way back in the 60s, that alone puts it above Detroit imho. This weekend LMP2 and GTD will be racing on the same layout that legends both past and present across multiple diciplines of tarmac motorsports.

A track where Jackie Iyx and Chase Elliot ran the same layout, Dan Gurney and Ron Fellows ran the same layout, John Fitzpatrick and Jordan Taylor ran the same layout, Bobby Unser and Austin Cindric ran the same layout.

Whether it's F1, Can-Am, Stock Cars, motorbikes, Trans-Am, GTP, GTD, GT1, USAC, LMP1, or even Motocross Mosport had been there, done that and has the T-shirt. It's up there with Watkins Glen when it comes to history, and is only surpassed by Indianapolis on that front. A track where despite its reputation is somehow underrepresented when it comes to its importance in the history of motorsports, back in the 1910s and 20s it was one of the crown jewels in Grand Prix racing second only to the Traga Florio itself.
