Here's another gif showing where this is at now:
    GRIDDER003.gif

    Things Gridder does so far:
    - Scans for existing skins and AI driver profiles to add to Gridder's livery and driver 'pools'. Driver profiles keep all known variants for different series, track-specific attributes, etc.
    - Automatically converts any installed skinpacks (and batch files with multiple presets like the IMMERSION Modding Group ones) into Gridder presets (.json files).
    - Checks all these 'legacy presets' for missing textures, AI driver profiles or empty slots.
    - Allows you to edit any of the presets by assigning drivers/liveries from the pools to any car slot.
    - Save (or Save As) and load a preset to the game (generating a new set of xml files from the Gridder preset, while preserving the originals)
    - Allows you to create a new blank preset, and either configure it manually, or use a 'Fill random' option to populate it automatically
    - Links helmets to drivers instead of liveries. A driver profile can list multiple helmet variants, and when assigned to a preset will use an appropriate helmet if they have one.
    - Links vehicle reliability to liveries instead of driver profiles - so if you put Alain Prost in an Andrea Moda, it will still blow up.

The random grid option is obviously a bit silly, but it's more of a proof-of-concept to test that it can handle very jumbled up assignments, and it seems to work so far:
