The drop to 45 is Asymmetric Time Warp kicking in. 45 should be completely drivable.

I you aren't getting 'Synchronizing' flashing up then it's a firewall issue.

I had this. Make sure your wheel is set SEN = AUT

You must assign your wheel axis and then calibrabate them for it to work.

Check the 'Disable all enhancements' option in the 'additional properties' panel of your sound device in Windows.
