Assign a button to centre Vr in the options, then press it when needed should do it.
Steam gives the option to start in Vr, have you been on track yet? It's in cinema until you hit the track.

I'm fine with everything except the small hud that's right in front of your face sends me cross eyed. The ones to the left and right are fine though.

I have pp off, shadows off (looks much cleaner), trilinear, msaa med. I find it way better optimised than pc2 was.
