Don't worry. I'm at the very bottom VR wise and AMS2 is still performing well. Even with better looking water reflections! :D
The main difference was, that it (AMS1) was based on a stable and developed physics engine and made its evolution in a bunch of other aspects. And...
I'm using both sims at will, so the faster the better for me! :D
Simply set AMS2 to "windowed mode" and select the resolution you want to fit the menu in VR.

G29 owner here and i prefer default+. From time to time trying new customs but everytime i'm returning to my beloved default. Will definately try...
