It's not possible to use the exact same setups between games, but one can get very close. Make sure you have the steering rotation and lock set the same too; that's very Important. If I'm correct, the rotation can only be set up in the main option screen, whereas it will automatically change from car to car in AMS 1. Another thing to keep in mind is that the tires need longer to warm up in AMS 2. In AMS 1 they would unrealistically come up to prime in a few corners. So the sequel is actually more realistic in that respect. Drivetrain behavior is also more realistic. So I'm satisfied that the ME will allow Reiza to produce accurate physics for the rest of the cars. It'll just take time. I just hope it won't be too long, because some of the cars a (like the Vee) are way off.
