mine is visible with latest updates from today

 

if after the server update people are still having issues seeing a lot of servers, from my experience and that of several others, changing the "Server browser pings/minute" in Steam from "automatic (5000)" to a lower number, 1500 seems to work well for most people.

 

We have had this forever.. refresh 1000 times or ..
Try using the filter and add the server name ..

 

Is there a changelog what's new with the last Serverupdate?

Also whould be intereseting if I could see some history of it - so that every server hoster can compare the impacts of changes.

 

there is a changelog.txt file which includes the history in the server installdir

 

I don't see any changes in mine since 7th feb, no idea what was done in the update a few days ago

 

Yeah, it doesn't always get updated, but it's the only thing we got unfortunately

 

Maybe some of you can share some tips and tricks in Windows 11 to optimize internet speed but above all reduce the latency or ping of the PC where the dedicated server is installed to the maximum against the filters or delays that the system may generate. Windows itself? My server has a fixed ip and a 450mb internet speed, pc has a fresh windows installation and ssd disks, most of drivers that joins has ping about 200-300... maybe something to make it better? thanks

 

My friend, unfortunately we are all hostages of peer-to-peer shortcomings. The configs of your dedicated server are almost meaningless, given that MP sessions are hosted by the computer of whoever joins the lobby first.

To make it clear: the dedicated server doesn't work as the server of a multiplayer session. That role is taken by the first person to join the lobby. So if you have a supercomputer as a dedicated server, but the first guy to join the lobby is running on a Pentium 4 with 1mbps up/down from Kiribati, your online session will be hosted by the Pentium 4 with 1mbps up/down from Kiribati.

Awful choice of networking architecture for a racing simulator.

After all these years complaining about MP, that was what I've learnt. Obviously if I'm wrong, hopefully somebody will correct me pronto.

 

Even if the server host joins first the pings are still doubled or even higher, it's ridiculous

 

I just made some test in different situations:
DS in pc#2, Host in pc#1 + DNS auto, ip auto ping about 280-300
DS in pc#2, Host in pc#1 + DNS fixed, ip fixed ping about 270-290
DS in pc#1, Host in pc#1 + DNS fixed, ip fixed ping about 270-285
P2P in pc#1 + DNS fixed + ip fixed ping about 215-220

I think that Windows 11 affects the ping, I did some things to optimize it in resources, network usage, etc... but that is the maximum I achieved. Right here I used the AMS1 dedicated server and the ping remained between 80-160 of course depending on the driver and their location, but it did have lower latency under the same conditions.

In ams2 what do you think is most important or minimum in hardware to host a race?
assuming you have good internet. Things like desynchronization, errors in the drivers positions, drivers with a suddenly lost lap during the race, no times for some drivers at the end of the race, green traffic lights that start at different times for the drivers, ghost cars, or jumping on the roof... we think that they are also very tied to the capacity of the hardware at that moment and the load it has, all are possibilities. Just sharing experiences. greetings!

 

We're running a local DS with Emperor's solution, but AI drivers are duplicated in the points standings after each race. Does anyone know if justrace.net produces the same results?

 

I can say with 99,9% certainty that JustRace produces correct results, and in case of an issue, it gets resolved very quickly as well, as the devs are very approachable.

 

Unfortunately it's duplicating AI drivers as well. So much for running human/ai championships.

I do this here, but fuel and other options are disable.

 

if you set a fixed setup, then you cant change anything in the setup, the game automatically gives the drivers enough fuel
