I'm a bit of a fan of historic racing which in part brought me to AMS2. I've produced a guide to the historic tracks in AMS2 along with information about the active years of the layouts depicted. For example if you want the right layout for the 1994 Adelaide F1 Grand Prix you can see that the Adelaide 1988 track has that layout. The track will have looked different in 1994 and there may have been different kerbing but at least you'll have the correct layout. I have arbitrarily decided that historic tracks are any track depictions from decades prior to the 2020s. I hope some of you find it useful for planning your own historic races. If there's interest I may expand the information. It's a first draft and there may be errors which I am happy to fix. Click on it for a larger version. UPDATED TO VERSION 0.3 (7 DEC 2023) - new DLC added.
Thanks for sharing! Your overview by decade makes it easy to get the relevant facts quickly. My overview goes on a year-by-year basis, but that makes it more difficult to read than yours: Track & vehicle class BY YEAR spreadsheet
Ha ha - I hadn’t seen your post or spreadsheet! Sounds like we had a similar idea at the same time! No criticism of anyone but I do find it hard to find good information about the sim when I want it. This forum is great but a bit unwieldy so I’m not sure I’d have found your info even if I looked…
Sounds good to me; it would be nice if you could flesh it out with all the modern tracks so we can see how everything inter-relates. Besides, some of our current tracks will become historic variants soon enough. I added a link to your graphic in The Automobilista 2 Mod Registry.
This is a useful thing - particularly the 'active years in this layout'. Agree with John that it'd be cool to eventually get all the tracks (inlcuding modern ones) listed in this kind of format. And it seems Jerez is missing!
Indeed it does. Now fixed. Along with some improvements to Monza dates - there's a lot of contracdictory information on the interweb about Monza! I'd like to do that. Just need to steel myself for the task...
Interesting things you find in the public build when you are looking for a way to make a FULL track listing (including 2020s tracks) a bit easier: I have never downloaded the beta version so I'm sure this is there for all to discover by just looking...
Great job! One information to help you: the interlagos 76 layout only was changed in 1989, for the f1 brazilian gran prix in 1990, after foca decided that jacarepagua won´t held the brazilian gran prix in 1990
I think the biggest race that would have used the Gesamtstrecke in 1971 would have been the Marathon de la Route, aka the 96 hours of the Nürburgring. EDIT: Actually upon review from what I can find even they cut off the south loop for the final running
