OK I'll do the second PacWest skin next (Mauricio Gugelmin)

But before that I reworked the Player's skins:
Dark blue stripes on the sidepods, Player lettering on the sidepods and the engine cover, and a little bit on the stripes in the front.
I think it is so something better.

Just for your information (many players will already have noticed it):
When you open the custom AI file and delete the "Jr" from the names of Al Unser and Michel Jourdain, you will see them as Unser and Jourdain in the HUD instead of just Jr and above that, Crew Chief then can pronounce their names. ;)

Another thing: What the game itself can not handle within custom files, is the use of french accents like "é" or german umlauts like "ä".
So, if anyone in example has a file with driver René Arnoux, he should change the name to Rene Arnoux instead. Otherwise, the name will not show up in game.

When I have "Häkkinen" ingame, the game just do not load the name. But my files are just created by typing the text in notepad.

What does it say on the bottom right of your Notepad? If it's not UTF-8, consider getting Notepad++ or something equivalent, because I have no idea how you'd change that in Notepad.

Max Papis 1998 is done. Feel free to add to the pack on RD. No XML included.
Next up is Gordon/Matsu****a's Panasonic car. After that I can also do the AAR cars as well as they shouldn't be difficult.

    Notepad
    UTF.JPG

openoffice calc, export csv as UTF-8 (This is what I always do, to useful save my diacritics)
    UTF2.JPG

Maybe covert to UTF-8 in Notepad++
    UTF3.JPG

Just checked but my powershell script makes UTF-8 with Bom files, so that should work.

My notepad does not want to give me any information...;), but as I said, not a big issue. I will download this notepad++ thing. Thanks.

If you go to View and check the Status Bar, you'll see the information that @SaxOhare mentioned.

For what it's worth, when editing in Notepad, when you choose Save As, you'll see an Encoding option. It allows you to select UTF-8. Once you have your file in UTF-8, get those special characters inserted via the appropriate Alt-codes and you're golden. Inserting the special characters whilst the file is in another mode (e.g. ASCII) and then saving as UTF-8 may cause unexpected results. I'd always recommending saving with UTF-8 encoding, closing and then re-opening the file just to be sure.

There is a tiny bug on Scott Pruett's car. On the right side, the template shines through.;)
