Any chance of a vintage Le Mans pack?

This would be an amazing feature in any sim. Simulate being one driver. Drive a stint, then hand off to your co-driver... and then have the simulation skip ahead to your next driving stint six hours (or whenever) from now.

 

Exactly this! Was thinking about an option to come to the pits and then press "driver swap". The game creates then a special sort of file (savegame). On loading this after your sleep, the cars are distributed and set up by a proper statistical model. So for example there is a chance that a car had a technical issue and needed a repair. For cars without such rare events a Gaussian or asymmetric probability distribution would be ok with regard to position, tire states, weather, .... For single player this would be my preferred solution, because it allows for endurance races and does not need the computer running all the time.
Note, I'm not a fan of the possibility to save within racing sims. The above described special way, would be acceptable for me, since it forces a driver swap.

 

This option already exists for PCARS2, there is no reason it shouldn't be on AMS2

 

There are a lot of options from PCARS2 that were stripped from AMS2.

 

But actually we dont know if it actually is stripped from the code or just disabled for the moment.

 

If you are asking about a simple swap to AI, it’s already there. I use it all the time. Just go to the ICM and set driver swap to on. The AI takes over after you are done with the pit stop and keeps driving the car until you ask it back by following the same steps. They will then come back to the pits, and you take over after tire/fuel service.

 

Oh sorry I thought it was driver swapping in MP.

 

We are going a bit off-topic, lol, but anyways:
- Driver-swap with the AI is available in AMS1 and AMS2. AMS1 allows to speed up the simulation, which I find useful.
- Both have the same issue: the AI in the player's car doesn't match the strength of the AI opponents.

IDK about MP in AMS2.

 

Vintage Dayton would be the next best thing. Y'know, like the movie, Le Mans '66 (Ford vs Ferrari).

 

Driver swap in single player mode in PC2 is terrible. The AI dude will never overtake. I've seen him driving an LMP and sitting behind a GTE the entire lap. It's really not good

 

Driver swapping with the ai exists in ams2! Ive done it before so you guys should be able too as well.

Check out the ICM there should be an option there

 

people can dream and talk about Le Mans as a fake or licensed track, but as long as there isnt much proper machinery, its not really something this game needs. the game needs more endurance toys before, here is hoping we are done with most openwheelers besides the obligatory F1 2022 car.

 

I suppose the good news on this front is that reiza could get the caddy, bmw and porsche LMDHs into the game

 

And if the track was out right now, the DPi, Ginetta P1 and GTEs would not be a bad grid

 

Am I being too weird if I say that one of my favorite benefits of a Le Mans license is the ability to have Circuit Karting International Le Mans? We don't really have any large kart tracks suitable for Shifter Karts in AMS2 (although Azure can work), so it would be really nice to have a proper kart track where the Shifter Kart could finally stretch its legs.

 

Just a 5 cent to this LeMans/la Sarthe thing.
Eventhough I like this track in AC - then its mainly because the L98T is such a challenge to master on this (or any other) track.

Because eventhough this track with its looong straights is kinda boring layed out then its quite good for longer MP races.
Because these straights gives pretty good places to overtake.
At least if you are good (or lucky) to get faster exits of corners than your opponents.

ByTheWay: Conserning this MP thing then I prowdly remember I participated in (probably) the last international endurance race using the famous GTP mod for NR2003.
On the LeMans 2004 version.
It was an event arranged by the Brasilian (hey attention Reiza! ) Nascarbrasil.com League in 2015.
And the race lasted 2.4H - but with both online practice and online pre-qual + qualifying days and weeks before.
Just like the RL 24H race.
Oh man those were the days.
