It has been 20 years since the battle between Ferrari's Michael Schumacher and Renault's Fernando Alonso got very heated during qualifying when it was alleged that Schumacher purposefully stopped before the last corner blocking the track with a time good enough for pole position with only seconds remaining while Alonso was on a personal best lap but forcing the session to be red flagged. Schumacher was found guilty of the protests made by the teams, starting from the rear of the grid storming home to 5th place showing that overtaking is possible on the narrow streets of Monaco.
