New Beta version with built in overlays, got tired of fighting with simhub.
I will most likely make it completely http so you dont have to touch the computer thats doing the broadcast

 

Amazing, really really well done! Loving the new beta, just been playing about with it for the last 20 minutes or so. One question I have, is there a way to limit the changing camera angles to certain views only? Or switching off auto-camera angle changing?

Quick edit: Is it possible in the current beta to have the interval gap between drivers display instead of their gap to the leader?

 

Hi Mate, latest version here https://github.com/RangeyRover/Automobilista-2-Auto-Director/releases/tag/v4.1.7-beta let me know if the issue still exists as its been updated quite a bit, best thing to do is raise an issue in github if it does, i do try to close them if its possible.

Mutiny Motorsport use it for their replay commentary streams and do a terrific job!

Say, could you maybe add an AI that watches the race and occasionally provides live commentary in different languages? That would be so cool and innovative. I know, I dream too much.

Unfortunately, Reiza never kept their promise from five years ago to develop a proper broadcast tool for AMS2 streams.

LFM would need to have this tool running for every weekly race. That alone would already be great!

And maybe Reiza could be asked again to place better live TV cameras on every well-known track.

 

I asked a year or so ago to give permission they said no.

 

I'm coming back to this for the first time in a while. I used to be able to use the older versions but the 4.1.X betas I'm not having any luck with. Not sure how to get it connected and talking to the game and I don't quite understand how to use this new interface you have. If I load a replay, the console says zero packets sent/received. I'm guessing to use it, I still have to highlight the first player on the in game standings, then hit "toggle director" on the GUI but I'm not getting anything when I do that.
I'm seeing this in the console but then no drivers populate the GUI screen

I went back and tried the old version and it works-ish. In a replay with 9 cars and a battle for the lead around 1 sec gap, it jumped to the leader one time in a ten minute race and jumped to the last place guy in 9th all of the time and the GUI said "position 16" . It basically toggled between a mid pack guy and the last place guy. I had the game in focus, clicked on the guy on the top of the leader board and hit space so I'm not sure what is going wrong with it.

I did get 4.1.8 working and found the web-based documentation so that was helpful.

My hope was to be able to have my streaming computer be invited as a broadcaster across several back to back races. Unfortunately, the key presses the auto director tool puts out seem to be clicking buttons on screen after a race is over and is causing my streaming computer to leave the server. Would be cool if the tool could detect starts/ends of session and pause sending button clicks .

 

well thats a cool use case. It doesn't really adapt to that because I have never been able to test much as a broadcaster. I can definitely try something in that direction. I think I need to release this as a main release as more people are using it. Please use github issues for things and features you would like, It gives me a structure to work from. And to @mikk's point above, I must make it go full screen on load. All the key presses wouldn't be a thing if AMS2 allowed camera change through API. I wish they would, many more people would get onboard with this and it would be free advertising with all the races on youtube.

So to make sure I'm clear, the game has to be in full screen mode for the tool? It can't be in windowed borderless? If it needs to be in full screen mode, is there a way to prevent the game from minimizing if you click on a second monitor for example?

 

No mate, game can be in any mode you like, but it must be in focus, keypresses wont happen if AMS2 is not in focus

 

Wouldn't this be the workaround for the guy who doesn't want it to close? He could have a second small window, maybe with the league name, his logo, end of race or something like that, and switch to it as the race ends.

Here's something that could work. I have a crazy setup where I'm in VR and have a virtual monitor viewing my streaming PC (using Moonlight/Sunshine) that has two monitors on it. After the race, I can toggle to the second monitor on the streaming PC to defocus the game until the next session.

 

@RnageyRover was able to sort of make this work having my streaming computer assigned to be a director (or broadcaster - both work). If you could take a look at a couple of timestamps in this video, it could help me out.

I have this issue where before each race, I make sure to click on the first driver in the leaderboard (multiple times) when the director is running and the game is in focus yet, still on occasion, it seems like the tool is jumping to the top menu on screen and getting trapped in there, rapidly clicking buttons until I click on a driver on the leaderboard again. See 18:02 in this video as an example.

The other one is the overlays. For the life of me, I can't prevent the F1 halo overlay from popping up like at 32:35 in the video. I don't need it. I'm refreshing the overlay cache in OBS each time I make a change on the F1 TV Overlay Control Panel and I can't figure out which check box turns it off.

Gents you are using this in a way I want you to, but is damn near impossible for me to test.
You are using it in director or broadcaster, to be able to get in this state I need to be able to join a racing session as a broadcaster to be able to test in the same mode, and that means I have to coordinate with a league to get into this state.
For what its worth I think it happens on change of session practice to qually, qually to race. the random halo is when it thinks it has pressed for cockpit view, there is no available feedback loop for what camera is showing so if it gets out of sync I cant tell
you can configure the cameras in the html screens for what overlays show with which camera view

EDIT: Watching the video it seems the key presses for broadcaster cameras are not working. Are you working as a director broadcaster pair?
Seems like this is from broadcaster and the [director app] and indeed the human cant change cameras in broadcaster mode? Please check which keys change camera in the PC that is doing the stream
