    Hello,

    First time posting.

I've spent the last few nights adjusting a custom FFB file i found on here. The adjustment I've made are to suit the CSL DD and obviously my taste. My question is an I allowed to share it here for other to try and hopefully improve.

I Don't won't to take credit for other people hard work.

Thanks to all that have put in the time making these files so far.

    @Mark_Redman 100%.

I would add that it is greatly appreciated if it's based off rFuktor, that it keeps that name and then the tune name after a dash, something like:
    "rFuktor-tunename xx.yy".
Also to keep the original credentials inside but add "tuned by: XXX, YYY,..." if it is value changes, or "modded by: XXX, YYY,..." if it contains actual modifications to code.

Other than appreciation it helps other people understand what it is.

    Thank you,

    -K

    Thanks

It is an rFuktor base file that I have altered values only.

So the tunename would be the original file I downloaded?

That's exactly what I wanted to know, I don't want to pass any of this my own work and I wasn't sure of the protocol. do I just post it in this thread?

    Cheers
    Mark

I'm sorry I realized now to have wrongly posted this post in the "custom force feedback recommendations". Probably the right place was in this section Automobilista 2 Force Feedback - Overview & Recommendations

This was posted on the V1.3.0.0 RELEASED news forum, which is really useful and would explain why I was getting a boaty feeling with damper 0. I'm going to try again with Damper 50 and work back to where feels good (NB: this relates to Default+ only):

except the custom file has damper built into file .
the damping slider is used for a different function ( power steering), so works opposite.

Update (Note - this relates to Default+):
OK, so you do definitely want damper somewhere in the midrange for Default+. I've settled, for tonight anyway, on Gain 65, LFB 5, D 45 and I don't use menu spring and it doesn't relate to in-car FFB. The way the settings interact, or a way of thinking about it, is gain sets the strength of the high forces, LFB sets the bottom strength, so use the two to manage the range of forces - lower or zero LFB (so a greater difference between low and high forces) will accentuate the feeling of difference between the low forces and high ones. For me, LFB 0 felt too violent between the wheel in a relaxed state and it pulling full force. The damper adjusts, as the quoted contributor states, to the tightness/hardness (higher damper setting) or looseness/softness (lower damper setting) of the transitions between low and high forces. I hope that helps!

Yes - the above was for the Default+ FFB.

    yes .
but it gets confusing for new users if we have references to the default ffb mixed in with the custom thread. ;)

So if I understand correctly, the custom files is still derived from the code of the original default ffb code? Reasoning here is that I love the new FFB, but would still like to tweak those new + values as opposed to the older default values. So in short, can we adjust the code of the new default+ settings for fine tuning? Do we even have access to the new code? Or am I on the wrong track so to speak?

Actually Karsten created this momentum rack from scratch, it doesn’t bare any resemblance to what the default custom looks like.

Also the placeholder for default custom doesn’t seem to have much code info, and doesn’t really respond to changes much .
So there’s not any scope to fine tune default or default + by the user.
What ever code they are running is hidden, default + may well have borrowed some of the custom file for all we know, as there’s certainly some familiar feel to it.
And it’s possible that some of what’s in custom has been semi supplied or assisted by Reiza after some back room talks perhaps.

I didn't find anything about the AMS2 custmFFB.ini file on the first page
I must install it in "Documents\Automobilista 2" folder along with the new ffb_custom_settings.txt file?

Where have you got a .ini file from? Afaik all you should need is the custom settings text file.

There might have been an .INI file uploaded at somepoint for people with Simucube Wheels to allow them to import settings for the wheel within the Simucube software, called True Drive. However, the only file you need to place within the My Documents AMS2 folder is the .txt file. If there is a file uploaded with both .ini and .txt in the file name, try removing the .INI part in the name and opening it with notepad to see if it looks like a FFB file. I’ve lost track of all the iterations at this point, and I concur the first page should probably be updated to include some of the more recently tuned files.
