Yes, you described it well. Ams2 has always been very loud and too extreme on the steering axis. In reality, that's not the case, and I think that's why Ams2 is still described as a Simcade today. That was also my motivation to reduce or eliminate these anomalies in the various bases. But FFB can't improve everything; it can only mask it. The physics remains, and this is the bigger problem. Not for all cars, but for many. Unfortunately, the comparisons are always made to real GT3 drivers, which I don't understand either. In any case, I'm having more fun with Raceroom at the moment, and unfortunately, I have to admit that for me personally, it's more realistic on the steering axis than Ams2. But to each his own, and I'm glad there's a large selection of simulations.

Hmmm... I'm not in the beta, Michael. Yes, you're right, everyone has different preferences and different opinions. Personally, I'd like to see Ams2 have a bit more understeer. That might add a bit more realism or reduce the skidding. I don't have any problems with the FFB because I can adjust it exactly to my liking and to match my base, and I can reduce or eliminate many anomalies. As I said, to each their own, and I'm not fixated on one simulation; I enjoy other or new ones as well. The next few months will be exciting:)

Yes, Reiza has improved the standard FFB. There are still anomalies, but far fewer with the update. They've actually improved similar things that have been improved in custom builds by various modders for a long time. Honestly, I think FFB will become less important in simulations in the future. This task will increasingly be taken over by different bases as technology allows. Telemetry FFB, Telemetry FFB effects, or sound-generated feedback like that available in Fullforce or Trueforce will take over these tasks. It will be more important for Sim creators to support these technologies in their simulations. A lot of immersion and a better feel can be achieved with FFB or these new technologies. But there are limits here, too, and ultimately, the physics of a simulation determines how far these improvements can go. With Ams2, I always have the feeling that it's just a masking or covering up of the problems with the physics. We'll see what will come; I'm optimistic.

I have rf2 AC ACC PC2 AMS1 and AMS2 and for me AMS1 feel most natural for me in every way, I use a light FFB ingame settings where I can feel lost of grip but also the edges of understeer or oversteer who I can correct on a natural way. In AMS2 there is something missing because most of the time where I can trow in AMS1 the car into a corner in AMS2 I lost the car because that I been to late to correct it.

Achieving optimal FFB results in AMS2 (vs AMS1 - for example), likely means having non-typical ffb settings (in-game) when compared to other titles. Of course, it varies by steering-system as well as user preference but, the wheel response "speed" has a lot to do with our sense of control. That's why the Damping slider in AMS2 is very important to get right.

I would suggest testing by increasing / decreasing AMS2 ffb-Damping to more extreme levels to better understand how it affects steering response (understeer / oversteer). Then gradually find a balance where the response feels natural for you.

    Sell me a VNM base.
You have exp with many different DD bases and i would really like your opinion on what makes the VNM base so much better.
I've only ever tried one DD base so my exp is very little.

Honestly, I only recommend this VNM base to people who are heavily involved in this genre. That means they should know what different controllers can do. They should already have experience with other bases, preferably several. They should be more familiar with FFB than the average sim racer. Furthermore, you will find little information about this base online. This base also has features that no other base has, which you should understand. And there is still a beta area where testing is taking place. I am in contact with VNM myself and am still amazed and fascinated by what this man has created in the DD area. Therefore, I would advise beginners against buying this base at this point. However, if you are willing to accept all these things, then in my opinion there is currently no comparable base on the market with such capabilities. It's best to wait a while if you are really interested. Next year, there should be a lot of new things coming from VNM and they will no longer be in beta.

Addendum: Ams2 is not supported for telemetry FFB and telemetry effects. Also important to know if you're only interested in one simulation.

I gather VNM is doing something similar to SimXperience with telemetry support. I know that telemetry can really help in certain titles where the native FFB is more limited but, in my experience with the AccuForce, telemetry effects were not as impactful where the game FFB was full featured (in terms of effects).

The Wheelbase receives and processes real-time telemetry data from the racing simulation. This data provides a much more comprehensive dataset than the standard force feedback signals used in games, especially in simulations where FFB is desired for additional feedback. The base is very interesting because it can mix real telemetry FFB with direct input FFB. This opens up completely new possibilities. You can also add individual telemetry FFB effects, such as understeer, oversteer, shift effects, road texture, and so on, all adjustable in intensity and frequency. This also opens up new possibilities, and you can adjust it directly on your base and adapt it to your personal preferences. Furthermore, in my opinion, this base combines the best of dds and belts. That means combining the liveliness and speed of dds with the natural feel of belts on the steering axis. As I said, this is just my opinion and my personal feeling with this base and may not necessarily coincide with other opinions.

To your question: No, I don't need a telemetry FFB in Ams2 because:

    1. It's not supported in Ams2
    2. The FFB in Ams2 is good, and I can customize it to my liking in the custom files.

However, if I had to use defaults in Ams2, I would be grateful if I had the option to customize it more precisely with the telemetry FFB. And this is also the great advantage of this telemetry FFB in other simulations if it's supported. You can customize it according to your personal preferences and
    feel.
I can't say anything about Simxperience because I don't know it and have no comparison

Trueforce can be really good on the Pro wheel but logi seems to not be pushing it to hard and most of the implementation across sims feels kind of half arsed and one / done. And i am one that enjoys tweaking and having the option for different effects and teleletry FFB seems the way forward

What you describe (Telemetry + Direct Input effects) has been used for the Accuforce as well as tactile / motion devices since quite some years and the SimCommander software is extremely capable and quite vast in its scope. You should check it out, it's quite interesting. There's also a new version of the AccuForce (Extreme) that uses a servo-motor instead of the stepper.

Yes, interesting, and I've heard about it. But I can't test everything, and I can't own every base. I can and will only share my opinion and experience with hardware, software, or even Sims that I own or have tested myself. Anything else would just be speculation or passing on information from some influencer. But I believe this will be the future for dds. Simucube3 also seems to be trying it now, but "only" with telemetry effects and, unfortunately, completely exorbitant prices.

I guess my point is that Telemetry effects in FFB are not a new thing at all, they've been used for some years already. There's always a point of diminishing returns as well. Most of the hard work has already been done by the pioneers, so we don't have to repeat it again and again.

What SimXperience has done in regard to telemetry effects reaches very, very far down the "rabbit hole" of what's possible with FFB.

I spent more than a year with the AccuForce exploring telemetry-driven FFB (as both the primary / secondary and combined sources) in most sim-titles and racing games, while also comparing results directly to Simucube1 at the time.

What we have in AMS2 (especially by way of custom ffb files) is also quite vast in scope, and I would argue that the resulting effects are not all that different from those generated directly through game telemetry. In either case, effects can be manipulated and distorted in various ways - even to insane extremes. But as we know, most users just want "easy", not complex FFB settings.

"Dan Suzuki," in my opinion one of the best base testers, just uploaded a review of the VNM. And he confirms what I also feel about this base. Check out his video if you're interested. I think this will change the market in the future with the DDS. Perhaps it was just too early and not mature enough back then with Simxperience. But I'm happy that things are moving forward in the DDS sector:)

I did check that out along with a few other VNM reviews. It certainly sounds interesting - especially for its price point. I'm not sure how it'll compare to SimXperience Extreme in terms of telemetry-driven FFB but, that would make for an interesting comparison once the software has matured.

Yes, it's a shame I don't have a comparison with the Simxperience Extreme. But I do have a comparison with many other dd bases, including Simucube 2 Pro. And none of these dd bases come close to the performance, the possibilities, and, above all, the fantastic feel of this VNM base in various simulations. For me personally, it's a game-changer if you place a lot of value on FFB.;)

Thanks for all your hard work, Daniel! If I have a simagic wheelbase and want to use Topspeed 5 with it, should I use the wheel settings provided in Topspeed 4, or do I need to tweak on my own since it's designed for VNM wheelbases only.

QUOTE="Danielkart, post: 326194, member: 29086"]Hello guys and hello girls!

"V7000 Topspeed" / " to "V7000 Topspeed 5" ready for you. (Topspeed 4 and Topspeed 5 is tuned to Reizas Update 1.6.8 and higher)

These customs are especially suitable for people who don't like the "hovercraft" or "flying" feeling in Ams2 (it's most extreme in GT3). These customs significantly improve or eliminate this feeling. The sliding feeling has also been greatly improved. I recommend using top speeds 4 and 5 for these.

The goal is to adapt your base and your in-game settings as perfectly as possible to the V7000 Topspeeds files and to use the potential of your base as much as possible. Meanwhile, all base technologies are supported by these 9 files. This includes gear bases, belt bases, hybrid bases, and dd-bases and there are now 55 different bases from different manufacturers with recommended settings.

    Changelog V7000 Topspeed 4 and Topspeed 5 :

    1. Extreme tire-road contact through increased vehicle stability. This eliminates or greatly reduced the notorious "boating" or "flying" feeling that many users (including myself) criticize with Ams2 in almost all cars. With the V7000 Topspeed 4 and Topspeed 5, this "boat feeling" has been further improved.
    2. No rotating wheels (helicopter mode).Hands can be easily removed while driving or shifting gears with an H-shift lever without excessive steering rocking.
    3. Changed the feel of the tires between the front and rear axles.
    4. Reduced the intensity of the tires' roughness to minimize interference with other FFBs.
    5. High-frequency noises are no longer noticeable on all dd bases.
    6. The rattling and vibration of gear bases. has been significantly reduced so that you feel the FFB rather than the loud noise of the gear technology.
    7. Vibration problems with belt bases have been significantly reduced or even eliminated.
    8. General adjustments to Reizas Update 1.6.8 and higher.
    9. Only in this Topspeed 4 files (File 7 and File 8) are all 55 different bases listed with very precise recommendations for in-game and base settings. These recommendations can also be applied to all other top speed files.
    10. V7000 Topspeed 5 was specifically tuned to my reference base VNM (32 Nm). However, you can also use any dd base starting at 9 Nm with it.
    11. The V7000 Topspeed 5 file was specifically tuned for the steering axle. This means the steering axle should feel as realistic as possible. The forces and speeds of the steering axle have been significantly improved.

    Notes for advanced custom users:
Always use 100% vehicle-specific FFB for these V7000 Topspeed files, otherwise you will change the file and clipping or loss of FFB may occur. Finally, a recommendation from me: Reduce the throttle sensitivity and the brake sensitivity in the in-game settings, I have reduced both values from 50 to 1-10% . Ams2 is the only simulation where I leave this no linearity, but with it you achieve much more feeling on the brake and on the throttle and the dosage will be much more precise. I also recommend reducing the steering sensitivity from 50% to 25-30% (leave VR at 50%) . This will result in less "boat feeling" and less slipping sensation. If you reduce the steering sensitivity you should also hide the virtual steering wheel in the game settings .

I wish you a lot of fun and fast and intense laps with the V7000 Topspeeds
