Out of interest, can some actions cause the tracklist.lst file to be reset?

Yesterday, I set everything up and had the California track working (amazing job, btw) and today, I thought I'd try to add one of the mods cars, so followed the process, ran JSGME to activate the mod, but thought I had to first deactivate the already activated boot files in JSGME, then activated the Nissan mod (the pCars2 Trees and California mods were still activated), then reactivated the boot files.

When I ran AMS2, the Nissan car mod was there but California track was gone. When I checked the tracklist.lst, the entries for California had gone and the last modified date of that file was set to a date in November (I had edited it yesterday). I added the California entries back in and it all worked again but do you know I needed to do things in a different order and if part of what I did could cause the tracklist.lst to get reset to default?

Not quite sure but better to modify the tracklist in the bootfiles of MODS folder. Dunno exactly if those bootfiles are saved if you deactivate that modded bootfiles.
Not native english speaker, so my explanation could be a bit strange *lol*
Hope you know what i meant ;-)

    1. You can edit files in:
    a. the MODS folder, and then, when you activate them, the changes are transferred to the game.
    b. directly in game directory, after you have activated mods. The changes will be saved only in the game directory. When you deactivate the mods the edited files will linger in game directory, and when you activate the mods back, the lingering files will be overwritten.
So yes, here you can reset your mod files by activating "clean" files from the MODS folder.

Up to you which method you choose. I do a lot of live editing so for me it's method b.

    2. you do not need to deactivate/reactivate bootfiles every time you add a mod. If you already activated bootfiles, then simply activate a new mod, and use method b to edit vehiclelist, driveline, and tracklist. Here you see that method b has its definite advantages.

    3. you do have to deactivate bootfiles when new bootfiles are out. that's a must.

    Good luck!

Just wondering, I read somewhere the game crashes if you have mods which aren’t compatible with a certain version the game crashes. Is this only when trying to play with the outdated mod or just not being able to start AMS2?

I've had only crashes with mods so far when a carmod was using an outdated drivetrain.
And then only when i tried to trive that mod.
But the game itself was working without problems...

I was discouraged to download mods due to this (and all the work), but now I will download some during the holidays. Thank you for the info :)

Normally you can't do anything wrong when you're using JSGME.
Deactivating mods is equivalent to establishing the vanilla backup again.
So, don't worry be happy... :)

Although I'm not a big fan of California Highway I'm glad to see the first track mod in AMS2, hopefully there will be more track mods in the future.

Wonder if non-PC2 tracks are possible to add. If yes, SEBRING! If no, Fuji

I do think so because they made a new category "AMS2 TRACKS"
    So should come more...

POSSIBLE maybe. But creating a track from scratch is another thing than "just" convert it.

These guys are heroes for sure! What would be really nice however... would be a single download with all their mods packaged together (i.e. activate tracks, cars then bootfiles and you're done). That would avoid all the pop-ups about previously modified files and should speed things up. It could live in a Google Drive or something similar.

Well, so with EVERY AMS2 update you would have to DL everything again and with any update to the mods itself just the same...
So i'm happy with how it's now.
Nevertheless, if any nerd would code sort of "Mod Manager" (like AC's Content Manager) i would be even more happy ... :D

Do I only need to update the driveline every time AMS2 updates and is the Valkyrie still compatible?

That depends on the sort of updates. Normally only the bootfiles are to renew. But if the driveline gets an update, the mods have to be updated too.
The Valkyre is NOT compatible since V1.3.6. but as far as i've heared it's worked on to make her compatible again.

Let's just suppose you can only port PC2 tracks. Even that would be MEGA! Taking a track list I found googling, here are the ones available on the game that are not Rallycross/offroad and that we don't have here (yet):

    Autodromo Internacional Algarve
    Azure Coast (France)
    Bannochbrae (Scotland)
    Brno (Czech Republic)
    California Highway (USA)
    Chesterfield Karting Circuit (United Kingdom)
    Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (Spain)
    Circuit of the Americas (USA)
    Circuit Zolder (Belgium)
    Dubai Autodrome (United Arab Emirates)
    Fiorano (Italy)
    Fuji Speedway (Japan)
    Glencairn Karting Circuit (United Kingdom)
    Greenwood Karting Circuit (Ireland)
    Knockhill Racing Circuit (Scotland)
    Leipzing (Germany)
Le Mans - Circuit de la Sarthe (France)
    Mojave Test Track (USA)
    Mugello Circuit (Italy)
    Oschersleben Motorsport Arena (Germany)
    Rouen Les Essarts (France)
Ruapuna Park International Raceway (New Zealand)
    Sampala Circuit (Canada)
    Sonoma Raceway (USA)
    Sportsland SUGO (Japan)
    Summerton Karting (USA)
    Texas Motor Speedway (USA)
    Wildcrest Racing Circuit (South Africa)
    Willow Springs (USA)
    Zhuhai International Circuit (China)

Some of these tracks have been highly requested at my wishlist track thread, that I will shamelessly plug in here for people that have yet not seen it and would like to participate, hehehe: You can add 10 tracks to AMS2 and that's it - which ones?

Is it there? I don't own PC2 and I picked a list I found, which may not be accurate?
