That's a pretty small dream compared to what is actually possible when the doors are opened properly for modding teams... You are really limiting your imagination of what can be achieved within the engine currently, let alone when the doors are opened properly...

Just imagine Racesimstudio converting their mods to AMS2. That would be terrific.

This confuses me... It's been a while since I've set up a dedi, but surely it shouldn't be too much different to other sims where you have to install it on the server as well as on the client side...

No, not this time, it uses a file with a car/track list, which i have been unable to find/edit, with PC2/AMS2 the dedi is basically still working as a p2p system, with the addition of having a results file afterwards

So instead of the carlist file in the bootfiles it finds the original unmodified list?

Could there be a path in the dedi settings to change this?

I do find it weird that the game would start up and recognise the modified file but the dedi server wouldn't... It's not the weirdest thing about the Madness engine, but it's certainly up there...

The dedi is basically unrelated to the gamefiles, it uses some sort of list with a reference(number id) for each car/track corresponding to the car/track ingame, its not like AC or RF2 where you need to install the cars/tracks onto the server

There were some great cars in PC1 that didn’t make it to PC2 also, like the LMP900 Lola Aston and the early 90s Monterey Stockcar.
The latter would be an excellent addition!

Yeah, turn off autoclutch, as with that on it burns the clutch really quick, or with autoclutch, try to lift off the throttle when shifting

As a software developer, I beg to differ. They mainly need to provide a UI to upload a .zip bundle file, verify the file structure is correct, parse it, then move the content in the correct folders, then register the new content to their internal tool.

I was intending on writing a mod tool to simplify all this, but work has been kicking my ass lately and haven't got near it.

Has there been a single scratch-made track modded for PC 2 yet?

@JayBee Love your classic arcade game thumbnail!! If I would have saved all the quarters I spend on arcade machines with a wheel, I would be so rich!!

Were you thinking of a "Parse/Copy" utility where someone would just drop a .zip file with consistent structure to move its content into the final AMS2 folders (local path provided by user or queried using Steam API)?

That's one of my indications of the potential future mod scene. The quality of tracks in all sims these days is so high that it is beyond any but the most insanely dedicated modders.

Cars transferred from some other platform or just shapes on top of a pre-existing chassis...sure. Cars are much easier than tracks, yet how many original-quality not pirated vehicles do we see so far?

Not wanting to be negative about mods--love them and their dedication and happy to pay for not stolen quality. But I am in the throw more money at the devs so they can produce more equivalent quality content camp rather than hoping mods will fill any real gap. Indy licensing fiasco an exception to that rule.

A good place for mods which is sort of related to AMS 2 is the Project cars modding discord

Most of those were brought to PC2 already by modders, the Caper Monterey arrived in time for Daytona.

Just noticed that the mod has been removed from the download section at Race Departement. Any reason why?

I guess because they used the ´banned´ F usa 2022 files from Reiza for this mod
