I don’t understand this hard/soft-lock-discussion. Maybe I have wrong controller settings or it’s because of my cheap old wheel (G27) but I almost NEVER turn my wheel that much that I even come close to any kind of lock. In hairpins maybe, but even here I have no problem…

Curious to understand as well... Maybe people running +/-180 degrees hard locks to keep DOR at minimum?

It also depends on what car you drive, as the soft-lock auto-adjusts based on the car you drive. The G27 has maximum range of 900, what cars do you usually drive ? Try and F1 car and attempt to rotate it beyond 180 degrees in one direction and you should reach the lock of the steering on that type of car.

Yeah, I understand that, but why should I want to rotate it beyond 180 degrees? I always turn the wheel only that much that I need to stay on racing line and hit the apex in corner. There is no need to turn the wheel that much, or do I get something wrong?

The thing is nothing is limiting you from turning more than 180 degrees

There needs to be nothing because I'm not planning to drive American Truck Simulator but rather a race car. Can't recall a race car with more than 180 degrees which is by the way as much as my hands can go anyway...

Well, Copa Truck has plenty of wheel rotation. But within this action you don't really any softlock ;)

I can not see why pointing up an obvious bug from the last update should be a start of some cocky dispute...

An example: You're racing some type of formula car, you are wheel to wheel with someone who is inside of you in a turn. You try to push hard for good exit, coming a bit too hot, the rear kicks and your instinct is to try to catch it. If there is no soft lock in this moment the solid connection feel with your car is just not there.

Basically if you "touching" the soft lock in each apex you are definitely doing something wrong, but this thing is there for situations when things get messy and you have to act quick to have a chance.

Yup - needs fixed. It's not making the game un-drivable currently though, as some are suggesting. Hitting full lock on a circuit is unusual. Unless it's Monaco!

rallycross is confirmed for adrenaline pack, and is already in ams1 and pc2 so its on its way. There was one ams1 dirt track which is a normal circuit but dirt (like a wreckfest track) so yeah its coming.

With the karts im never using full lock, im only using a small amount of turn on the wheel as the steering is so direct, and since the force of the wheel is so strong i doubt hitting full lock is possible in the karts

Cars don't become undrivable because the soft lock is broken, ideal it's not but while it is getting fixed cars are still more than usable.
I noticed it yesterday for the first time in the Sprint car, before that in the older cars I hadn't even came close to hitting the missing soft lock.

Nice, I'm glad to see that you are making improvements that actually matter to the AI especially.

The argument over the lock stops happens everytime it's brought up...

It's because to some it's an absolutely key feature...

Whilst to others they spent so much time focussing on keeping the car flowing and using minimal inputs that they never find the wheel stop moving but their hands continue to move... Only noticing on rare occasions after spins...

And yet other don't drive with a steering wheel in view... So would never notice it at all...

I hide the wheel and arms and make sure my monitor is really close to my wheel increasing the immersion even more and completely eliminating the problem of "size or movement matching". For VR users, I can see the problem being very different.
