Does this now also mean that the REAL modern IndyCar can be officially added to AMS2 already ? Not just the generic one. It would only make sense to have it in the game as official content and not just as a mod.

Depends whether IndyCar is still delusional enough to think that exclusive licensing arrangements are a good thing (for themselves or their fans).

Going to go with "the IndyCar executives haven't learned a damn thing from the MSG fiasco" for $500 Alex.

I am a Toyota fan since their F1 days and I just don't see the GR10 or any of their older prototypes in AMS2, not because of Reiza, but because they seem to be very selective to whom they license their cars apart from Gran Turismo.

Although to be fair, I think Toyota as a racing brand is gaining the recognition they deserve now, before mainly due to their F1 efforts they were unjustly mocked and many people ignored all of their past achievements, so they were not too sought after in video games. Now that their image is where it belongs and many more people recognize their racing cars, it makes more business sense to license them into racing games. So here's hoping we get at least one of Toyota prototypes, would love to drive the EagleMK3 in AMS2, its going to waste in FM8.

Audi is also missing in the game and that one is a little more strange to me, as unlike Toyota, their prototypes are much more common in racing games.

Well I think Reiza should care for those expensive licenses like Ferrari or Lamborghini.
These brands' appearing show the success, the maturing of AMS2 and also will bring a lot of new people to the sim.
And what's so bad of driving a on a cavallo rampante or on an angry bull in the sundown at Le Mans?

I think Audi licencing will be a big 'wait and see' going forward sadly, seeing as they're basically done with customer/'proper' racing now. There aren't any classes in AMS2 that I consider them essential for any more, with the decline of their GT3 and GT4 programmes. Would much rather see Ford (Mustang GT3, GT4, GTE, Capri, Escort) or Aston (Group C, GTE, GT3, GT4) if I was wishlisting. Which I am.

Dead class with no representation, very unlikely to see Toyota in game - personally I don't see any use for LMP1 if we have a nice modern GTP (LMH/LMDh) class. Just my opinion but I'm much rather see that resource used elsewhere.

Still some good historical content from Audi. You have the Quattro if they end up adding a GTO category for late 80s GT. You have the DTM Quattro as well for Group A. If the price was right I don't even think adding the GT3 to Gen 1 or GT4 would be bad as Audi is still pretty popular.

According this argument the main question would be if any of the old cars/classes/historical tracks would add any true value to the sim. The "modern" LMH/LMDh and the LMP1s of the 2010-2020 are pretty different and from the technological standpoint the LMP1s were way above the current "modern" LMH/LMDh.There is a reason why Audi and Porsche each spent 200 Mio. € p.a. in this program like other racing teams in their F1-engagment.

Don't get me wrong, I won't complain if it gets added! Just saying I can understand using the resources elsewhere and also thinking Audi may be changing their approach to licensing.

That's why I caveated my post quite heavily with a lot of 'my opinion' disclaimers - it's not particularly of interest to me having a 'recent but not current' class, but I understand it would be for others. I get that LMP1 is very different tech to the current cars and I was trackside at LM for a lot of those years, I just wouldn't see myself using them much in game.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a little bitch for Ferraris too. Red sport cars with a horsy logo on them makes me wet all the time. But, and that's a BIG BUT, Ferrari is expensive. With the same amount of money you'd spend for 2 or 3 Ferraris you can have 5 or 6 cars from another brand, like McLaren or Mercedes. In my opinion, I'd rather have more options in a class (like GT4, which have 6 cars now) than having one single car.
But I dunno how these deals are made. I don't really know if this theory of mine is correct. It's logical, but it doesn't mean it's correct. Believe me when I say that I REALLY want to be wrong. Ferrari GT3 or GTE or LMDh would be a dream come true.

To be honest, I think this game is lacking Japanese cars. Hondas, Mazdas, Toyotas. I dunno if you guys know about it, but there's a very hidden Mitsubishi Lancer Cup in the game. Not many people play with them. I hope we can have a "Racin' Japan" or "Super GT" DLC in the future. Tsukuba would also be a good addition for club/weaker cars racing.

Japan licences for events , cars and tracks are extremely expensive it seems , like the Super Formula , or Suzuka.
