I previously opened a thread about the extremely frustrating wheel usability in AMS2. It was moved to the general Feature Request Thread, where it is now one post among more than 3,400 posts on 172 pages.

With respect, I don't think this is a feature request.

I'm not asking for a new game mode, an additional car, a graphical option or some nice-to-have functionality.

I'm asking for basic steering wheel support in a sim racing game to work properly.

I am using current, mainstream MOZA hardware. AMS2 displays A/B/X prompts throughout its menus, yet there is no straightforward way to assign these menu functions to the corresponding buttons on my wheel. There isn't even a sensible ready-to-use preset for common MOZA hardware.

Yes, apparently I can work around this. I can manually configure everything, use keyboard and mouse for menus, install additional software or map keyboard commands to wheel buttons.

But why should this be necessary?

I bought a sim racing game. I have a modern direct-drive wheel from one of the major sim-racing hardware manufacturers. I simply want to start the game, configure my wheel with reasonable defaults and race.

Instead, I spent my evening troubleshooting controller configuration and eventually closed AMS2 and launched Assetto Corsa.

That is not a missing feature. That is a basic usability problem with a core input device for this type of game.

So I would kindly ask that this thread not be moved to the 172-page Feature Request Thread again. I would genuinely appreciate a response from Reiza on this:

Is proper menu navigation and plug-and-play support for common steering wheels such as current MOZA hardware something Reiza considers a basic supported function of AMS2? And if so, is this going to be addressed?

I paid for the game and I think it is reasonable to expect an answer to that question.

    Hello,

Welcome to our Forum. I moved your post to Feature Request as it was to the letter a request for proper navigation bindings and proper presets. 'Please add proper menu-navigation bindings for steering wheels and sensible presets for common MOZA hardware. This is basic usability for a sim racing title.'

That said, I totally understand your concerns. I can't, however, give you a proper answer as I am not a developer. I can, though, give you a few solutions you can try, so you can go on track and net stint after stint.

For Moza, a couple of users have had success picking 'Generic' or 'Legacy'. You have to bind all your peripherals, then go on track and it should work. Alternatively, you can try to delete the default.controllersettings.v1.03.sav file in the Automobilista 2 folder in My Documents. This will generate a new file. You also have to rebind your peripherals.

I don’t know if this solves your issue with the menu navigation, though. I don’t have a Moza, and personally I use a mouse to navigate through the menu.

Thank you for reading. If you’ve more questions, please leave a reply.

    Marius
