Problem statement: I rev high in neutral, wait for green, shift to first and the car won't accelerate at all even though all visuals shows it in first gear. Second time its happened to me so not an isolated event. I've never had this problem before but its happened both times in the last 2 months. Car in question: Mclaren Gt3 gen 2 evo Track it happens on: Road America. Hasn't happened anywhere else. Observations from both incidents: Both incidents were on public lobbies Both times I qualified P1 Both happened at Road America Both online events were forcing default setups The most recent event was a dedicated server...not a user made one. Can't remember if the first time was also a dedicated server. Things that worked to get me going: Shifting through the gears up and down didn't help. In both events I remember depressing the brake fully while in neutral/first and then pressing accelerator which got me going. This after scrambling and trying lots of things . And causing a pile up behind me My rig: Thrustmaster T300 RS. Automatic Clutch off and manual gearing enabled. My first thought is that maybe you're destroying your clutch? I'm not sure about the exact conditions needed to be able to replicate this, but IIRC it's a combination of high revs, mechanical failures set to on, and then dumping the clutch. Maybe the multiplayer lobby you were in had some specific realism settings that you don't usually have, and driving habits that you're normally able to overlook in these conditions are punished with a destroyed clutch. Just my hypothesis.
Hi, Reading your post, I am leaning towards the possibility that there is an issue with the brake axis. It is either being detected by the game or your Thrustmaster driver as fully pressed. When you apply the brake pedal, it depresses the brake gauge, and you can get moving. Another option is that the pedals are checked as 'combined', which combines the throttle and the brake. In this case, the brake will also be detected as fully pressed until you press the brake pedal in real life. Third option is that the brake pedal potentiometers (if yours has them) are dusty and have to be cleaned. So, to determine the cause of your issue, can you please send me screenshots of your Thrustmaster driver settings and the settings in Automobilista 2? Thank you very much. Marius Edit: Didn't saw the post above as it wasn't posted, yet, when I had this one open. Burned clutch is also an option, but then you should be able to limb to the pits if lucky.
Hi @Roar McRipHelmet and @Marius H , Thank you for your prompt response. Its appreciated. After the incident, jumped into another online lobby, try to exit the pit, can't change to 1st gear with right paddle shift. Only thing that works is pressing my actual clutch pedal and shifting up. I don't use clutch pedal on my Thrustmaster - not ever. Just paddle shift up and down. Which made me review my gameplay settings. Automatic clutch is "Off" - that should have been a dead give away instead of me writing things on auto pilot above. Its always been "On" - I don't ever change that setting. After changing automatic clutch to on, I'm back to normal and I try another lobby. Everything working as normal and no problems. Which begs the question, how did it change to Manual ? And how was I able to change gears during the race with the incident without pressing the clutch pedal in? Are there any reported incidents from other users who experience gameplay settings changing unexpectedly during an event or while actively playing AMS2 online or local? As per your comments, I am attaching: 1. Thrustmaster settings 2. Server lobby settings where I was racing (same settings for all races). Server is called GoNKyRacing.com | GT3 G2 Rotation series. 3. AMS2 Gameplay and control scheme settings. I'm not sure which settings you are specifically referring to @Marius H . If you can elaborate I will supply as needed. As stated above, automatic clutch is now On but it was off (unexpected so) when I typed the original post. With regard to the suggestions, I will definitely be doing pedal maintenance in the upcoming days. Don't think the insides have seen daylight in quite a while.
Hi, Thank you for the information and the pictures. I've checked them and couldn't see any inconsistencies. Which begs the question, how did it change to Manual ? And how was I able to change gears during the race with the incident without pressing the clutch pedal in? You probably thought it was set to 'on', but it was 'off' the whole time, or maybe you forgot you changed it or anything else like that. During the race, the lobby was likely set to 'Auto clutch on' at server-side. Are there any reported incidents from other users who experience gameplay settings changing unexpectedly during an event or while actively playing AMS2 online or local? I can't recall there were any experiences like yours; only similar reports were about the clutch, as some drivers burned theirs and were clueless about what happened. I am glad everything is solved, and I wish you a lot of racing. Marius
It’s worth checking there isn’t a random key/button bind for Auto clutch , as it’s something that can be assigned to change mode on the fly , and could have been accidentally pushed.
@Marius H , thank you for your follow-up response. Hi @Kuku , Thank you for this suggestion. Its the most logical explanation. I do have a button mapped on my keyboard for automatic clutch 'O'. I have never used or edited it. Started a single championship race with AI at spa, on start line, pressed 'O' (see info message auto clutch is off), revved high, paddle shift right to 1st gear. Car stayed in neutral and car made a very unhappy sound most probably letting me know I should stop being stupid. I braked 100%, then was able to paddle shift into first and start a very slow acceleration in first. Was able to then paddle shift up and down through all the gears during the full race stint without having to use clutch pedal at any time....even at the race start. Subsequent tests reveal that fully pressing brake 100% was not required. Letting go of accelerator and waiting for car to resume default minimum idling revs also allowed me to paddle shift into first gear. This is slightly different to my initial incident where I could shift gears up and down and see them changing on screen while revving....just no acceleration. For now, I've removed the binding completely. I'll also be checking in game settings just before race start to confirm I don't have a re-occurrence of this. I shall report back to this thread in future if it happens again and if I can reproduce the conditions just in case other users have similar experiences.
