You can always tell who is and isn't using crew chief when you race :)

It's a required add on in the PCars club I'm in and really helps keep races clean.

In fact the reason I knew AMS existed and checked it out was because I seen it appear in the Crew Chief apps list and our club is about to start testing out AMS as an alternative racer to PCars!

Internet is only required to download updates. I only ever race offline against AI, and I use Crew Chief all the time. In fact I don't enjoy playing the game without it, it's that essential.

Got it back working at a pit stop where I clicked to stop and start the app, but looks like it went back to the detaulf config as it was giving me a lot of info I didn't want

Thanks for reporting this, looks like an error with calculating the session's fastest lap. Not entirely certain how it's happening but I'll add it to my "to-do" list.

Dare I ask, is crew chief for AC still in plans? I miss Mr.B's voice every time I'm on the track in AC.

...eventually? They make changes to the API with *every* release and *every* DLC pack, so once we get Crew Chief over to Assetto Corsa, it's going to be a full-time job just to maintain it. I'm involved in a number of projects at the moment and I don't really feel like dropping all of them just to work on AC support forever.

If Kunos could leave the API spec alone for 12 weeks at a time, then it would be worth it. I mean, I get it, there are tons of little changes here and there that I would love to make to my own rFactor API, but I don't because I realize that while doing fast iterations on API consumers is fine, fast iterations on API producers is lunacy.

That being said, I'm working on updates to the rFactorSharedMemoryMap.dll and once that's released, I'll have to update the API spec for other apps to use it.

Anyway, Crew Chief is fully open source (the code is all available here: GitHub - mrbelowski/CrewChiefV4) so if anyone else would like to shoulder the responsibility of porting it over to AC, by all means, fork it and submit a pull request.

    2 suggestions:
1 Get yellow flag warnings only if you are in the sector where the yellow flag is active
2 Make the spotter realise he is watching a replay :D sometimes it thinks you are driving and it starts repeating the messages (like damage if the replay is about a crash).

Man I can't wait to have this in rF2 btw, any ETA?

    1. It already only notifies you of yellow flags in the current sector you're in. Because of the slow scoring updates (only once every 500 ms) and delays in message playback due to queued messages, it's possible that a yellow flag message can be delayed by nearly 1 second, at which point you might have left the sector. For the most part this isn't a problem, but on some tracks with tricky corners right after the sector marker, you might consistently get a yellow flag notification for sector 2 just as you're entering sector 3.
    2. It already detects when you've entered the replay state and pauses the crew chief game state processing. The problem is that during an instant replay, the clock keeps ticking, so when you're done watching the replay, crew chief resumes and detects the change in the clock, so the last message gets played again.

Kinda bummer, but have to live with that. Hopefully it will eventually happen. Thanks for the answer.

Is it possible you might refine the sector timing reports? I often hear "time in that sector is okay" when I get a tenth or even three tenths quicker from my best lap's same sector. Also, what does it mean when it tells me I'm off the pace by a certain amount? What sets the pace? Sometimes it seems like its not related to the times I'm putting in if I'm running at the front of the field.

I only note this because the encouragement when you're doing well and gaining positions is great. I even had the spotter tell me to push and take a driver halfway through a pass attempt, it somehow knew I had him in my clutches but also encouraged me when I was in a potentially dangerous situation, one I might back out of. That was pretty immersive. The lap time reports seem to not be as much. If I didn't have a sector monitor widget open I wouldn't be able to make much sense of them.
