I recently replaced my busted H-pattern shifter so have been going back through various vintage classes having a lot of fun. But something's bothering me and I'm not sure if it's a setup issue, user error, or something else. My down-shift throttle blips have to be really aggressive in the cars I've tried so far (only the M1 Procar and 1970-something Lotus F1 car). I have to really mash the throttle to get the revs to rise. I thought it might be a timing thing - perhaps I'm dragging the clutch or something - but even sat with the car ticking over in neutral it takes a surprising amount of throttle to get the engine revs to rise. Both in terms of throttle position and time. This makes quick down-shift blips really hard to do, resulting in rear locking and lots of lary moments on turn in. I've also started noticing it on slow corner exits with no gear shifting involved - the engine seems to just not react (or react slowly) to smaller throttle inputs (say, below 40%). As I feed in the throttle and unwind the steering, the car just waits until the throttle input gets some way into the travel before it picks up and takes off. I've checked the controls settings for deadzone and sensitivity and they seem OK (no dead zone, 50% sensitivity). The calibration screen clearly shows a nice linear throttle percentage as I slowly move the pedal. Anyone else experienced something like this? The hardware seems to be fine (Fanatec CSP v3 from a few years ago)
hmm... I reset the car setups to default *and* renamed my 'default.controllersettings.v1.03.sav' file (so started with a completely new controller config) and now the throttle works correctly. Unfortunately I changed 2 things at once so have no idea which one fixed my issue Still, at least it's fixed and I can now blip like a boss again
I am glad you solved it yourself. Have fun racing, Mr. Belowski. Jim and Claire are waiting for you in the paddock.
