Hi All. Have just got back into using my Sim (due to shoulder injury 18 months ago) my Fanatec CSL Elite Wheel Base and pedals using PC are not being detected in Automobilista 2 ( and also Project Cars 2) but are detected (and working perfectly) in my other sim software ie Assetto Corsa , Dirt Rally 2 and F1 2025. I have installed the latest Fanatec driver and all works in that fine. Your help would be most appreciated. There is obviously some issue with the back end of the (both) sim software due to using the Mad Engine and my Fanatec CSL Elite? Is there a fix? Oops forgot to mention I am using all my sim software via Steam

Thank you for your assistance.. My steering wheel is picked up in AMS 2. BUT my CSL pedals DO NOT, (this goes for Project Cars 2 as well). My pedals are "seperate" and they work perfectly with my other sims as per my first post...Any further advise on this issue please...
Hello, Glad your wheel is being picked up. Please try 'Custom, Generic or Legacy' with 'Separate' pedals. You've to rebind all your peripherals. Go on track and see if you can throttle and brake. Marius
Hello Marius Thanks for your reply. I am having a lot of difficulty doing what you suggest as still AM2 will not recognise my wheel (again) and pedals. When I try to assign an amber light comes up on my wheel base in place of the Red for PC and Blue for PS4 ( I am using my sims on a PC). This is becoming so frustrating.... I cannot understand why AM2 does not recognise my Fanatec CSL Elite units like before but my other Sims do.... mmmmm.
Goodmorning, An amber/yellow light on your wheelbase is the v2.5 compatibility mode. I've no idea why it switches to that mode, as I never experienced it on my Fanatec bases: V2.5, DD1, and PDD. Have you tried to check and disable if the Steam Controller Input is switched off, as I previously mentioned? Right-click > AMS2 > Properties > Controller > Disable 'Steam Input'. I totally forgot to add, but since it has been 18 months, it's advisable to back up the AMS2 folder in My Documents, delete the original folder, so you can start fresh. You have to redo all your settings and assignments. Alternatively, check with Fanalab or FanaApp if you have enabled v2.5 mode when it detects AMS2 boots up. You can also try to force PC mode, but you have to look up the CSL Elite manual for instructions. Also try another USB-port. If I recall correctly, most Fanatec bases prefer USB 2.0. Marius
Hello there Marius hope you had a great weekend Well I am back..... and sadly no good news. Still cannot get AM2 to recognize my Fanatec Ver1 CSL LC pedals (like it used to do). Yes it recognizes my wheel base but as my pedals are on its own separate usb connection AM2 does not recognize them. You mentioned to connect them to a USB 2 socket, mmmm my computer does not have any USB 2 only 3 which brings me onto something I forgot to let you know In between me not using the sim I had built a stand alone computer for sim use so all my sim games are freshly installed on a fresh PC with nothing else installed (except for Steam) the only real difference is that my original PC was Win10 this new one is Win11. I got in touch with Fanatec and they suggested I uninstall the driver I had installed and to clear out any Fanatec hidden files which I did and then install driver 474 but that still did not fix the issue with AM2 (and PR2) which leads me say there must be some issue with the Madness Engine (shared by both AM2 and PR2) as my pedals work perfectly with my other three sims. I have also done what you suggested and disabled the Steam Input and I also unplugged the pedals USB from computer for a minute and plugged back into another USB port but still no good. As I said the issue has got to be something in the Madness Engine software...Any thoughts on that. I do very much appreciate in your time Marius. Thanks Lee
Hello, It’s strange that it doesn’t work for you. In 2020, I briefly had those pedals, and they worked fine for me. Try selecting "Custom, Generic, or Legacy" with "Separate" pedals again. If possible, plug the pedals directly into the base, and try to use the 'Fanatec' preset. You might also want to delete the controller.sav file in the AMS2 folder in My Documents (or the entire folder). Even though you mentioned everything is fresh, it’s always a good idea to clean out the AMS2 folder; just back it up first. It’s also odd that it doesn’t work in pCars, since both games share the same engine. That could be related. Marius
Hi Marius I found it hard to find the "controller.sav" file. My system search brought up a folder called "Profiles" in AM2 with a few .SAV files in this folder including "default controller settings", "default", "default local settings" but no "controller" Is this the folder I should backup and delete?
don't worry about the term default there @Racey, it means it's the default profile for that user. Everything in our My Documents dirs is user data and safe to remove without hurting the game. The full name of the file Marius is referring to is 'default.controllersettings.v1.03.sav'. You should be able to copy it elsewhere as a backup and delete it and the game will generate a fresh copy on the next run
Thanks Dave. I am assuming that everything in the "Profiles" folder can be deleted after I save that folder as a backup?
Yes, if you've made a backup of the entire AMS2-folder in my Documents then you can delete everything in that folder, or the whole folder, or specific files. Upon boot it will generate a fresh file or/and folder.
