Reiza September 2019 Development Update
Hello again everyone
September has been another busy month in an ongoing run of busy months that shall continue as we push flatout with development of Automobilista 2 - so let´s cut to the. chase and go straight into what we´ve been up to this past month.
AMS1 / rF2 Bundle Updates
We still have a few updates and fixes pending for these two releases which (at the risk of sounding repetitive) are due out soon. Please bare with us a little longer here
AMS2 Community Skins
We have recently announced in our development forum (restricted to Reiza Backers) that those who joined the AMS2 Early Backing Campaign will have the opportunity to become part of Automobilista 2 by submitting their own... -
Automobilista 2 September 2021 Development Update
Greetings everyone!
Glad to be back to bring you a new Development Update following a short hiatus last month as we took some time to catch our breath. We are already into September which means this Dev Update itself has run a bit late as we had to wait a bit for greenlight on some upcoming bits, so we are taking the opportunity to change things around a bit and name the Update with the upcoming month rather than the one that just ended
With that house-keeping out of the way, let´s get into what is important - here is an overview of what we have been working in recent weeks and what we have coming up next.
Latest Progress
As of the latest build, Real Weather now also include local environment temperatures - gone is the old overly generic built-in lookup tables, in is accurate for any location in the game, currently and for any date going back to January 1st 1979. The game now also packs the data from days... -
Automobilista 2 February 2021 Development Update
Greetings everyone!
It´s hard to believe that we have already hit March 2021 - time is flying by faster than a Sauber Mercedes C9 set to max boost!
This means this Dev Update has actually run a couple of days late as we focused on wrapping the big update just deployed this past Sunday - February just wasn´t long enough
March is likewise shaping up to be another very busy month as we gear up to what should hopefully be another major update - one that will mark the first anniversary since AMS2´s initial EA release.
For that reason, we´ll be keeping this dev update a bit leaner than usual, focusing on the information that´s most important as we approach this new milestone.
LAYING DOWN THE GROUNDWORK
Sunday saw the release of v1.1.2.0 update to AMS2, which has just been complemented by the v1.1.2.1 hotfix earlier today, with another minor update scheduled to be deployed before the end of the week.
While the rate of... -
Automobilista 2 April 2020 Development Update
Greetings everyone! We hope you all have been keeping safe and catching up with your sim racing while we continue to go through these surreal times.
It´s now been a month since Automobilista 2 was released in Steam Early Access, and what a ride it has been up to here! It´s been great to see the game being overall very positively received and that the sim racing community shares our confidence about its future.
Most will not be aware but with both Stock Car Extreme and Automobilista 1 being free updates to those who bought the previous version of the game, Automobilista 2 is actually our first completely new title release since Game Stock Car 2013 back in November 2013! And despite the less than ideal circunstances surrounding all of us these days, we are happy to say the game has got off to a very strong start.
As we have continued to stress since the initial announcement, Automobilista 2 is a long term project but we feel we have now crossed the... -
Reiza October 2019 Development Update
Hello again folks!
October has come and gone - another month of intense work for us as we enter the latter stage of Automobilista 2 development before its initial release.
After months grinding away producing, updating and exporting a large number of cars and tracks, figuring the ins and outs of the new game engine and developing the required additional resources, things are now beginning to take form and potential is starting to turn into reality as the focus shifts from assembling the meat and bones of the sim to fine tuning the game into a cohesive whole.
There´s a lot of work still to be done to achieve that, so let´s go over where we are
AMS2 Release Schedule Update
Beginning with what may not be so good news - although things have been progressing nicely and more or less within the planned schedule, with most major issues already cleared and a large content base already in place, we have decided to push release a bit from December 2019 to... -
Automobilista 2 V1.1.0.0 RELEASED - Now Updated to V1.1.0.5
It´s time for fireworks! A new year is soon (already?) upon us, and we at Reiza have been working flatout through this Holiday season to celebrate it with a bang - the most famous race track in the world, some amazing historical sports cars, new features and many improvements mark v1.1.0.0 as the biggest Automobilista 2 update yet!
IMPORTANT: Given the amount of substantive changes in this update, we strongly recommend all users to start a fresh profile by deleting their Documents/Automobilista 2 folder to avoid issues (this will be requested with far less regularity from this update onwards).
The Livery System Override is now fully implemented - to get your hands on the templates for all cars currently in the game and learn more about how you can go about replacing the original car liveries with your own please check this topic (will be updated with new... -
Automobilista 2 V1.1.3.5 RELEASED!
This release comes exactly one year since our initial Early Access release on March 31 2020, and we have been pushing hard as we have through this whole year to celebrate the occasion with another major update!
Unfortunately some of the new features and core developments we had hopes to wrap in time for this update didn´t quite make it in time, but the work obviously isn´t lost - while this update isn´t quite the beefed up step we had hoped to deliver, our users can still look forward to these valuable developments making into the game in the coming weeks and months.
Our March update still packs a good punch with another sizeable list of improvements & fixes, additional layouts for the Historic Jacarepagua circuit, and a new historical class - the Formula Retro Generation 2, featuring the iconic Lotus 79!
The most significant physics development in this update is the substantial reduction of driveline friction levels, resulting improved... -
Automobilista 2 April 2022 Development Update
Greetings Everyone - we are happy to finally be back with our first Development Update of 2022!
To begin with I´d like to apologize for not providing these updates in the early months of the year - for a variety of reasons these have been challenging times during which I´ve been personally less involved with the development of AMS2 than usual, and by extension less engaged with the community to provide you all with the level of information you have been used to.
So let´s try make up for some of that and bring you up to date with what´s going with Reiza and the development of AMS2!
Housekeeping!
Just a couple of days ago on March 31st we completed two years since the initial Early Access release of Automobilista 2 on Steam - in this time we made some big strides with the game and while we are proud of the pace of development, the number of improvements and new content we´ve introduced to the sim over this time, we know... -
Automobilista 2 June 2023 Development Update
Greetings Everyone!
It´s that time of the year again: as a new milestone update rises on the horizon, excitement is in the air, caffeine is being abused and crunch time is in overdrive as AMS2 is expected to hit v1.5 within the next few weeks.
Previous AMS2 milestone updates all represented big leaps in quality, features and content for the sim - among other highlights, AMS2 V1.2 introduced Real Weather, seasonal foliage, customizable championships & Racin´ USA Pt1, the first AMS2 DLC as covered in the May 2021 Dev Update; AMS2 V1.3 introduced the VW / Acelerados Demo, a critical driveline physics development to LSD differentials, a major FFB upgrade along with the initial step in AI modding support as covered in the November 2021 Dev... -
Automobilista 2 V1.0.4.0 Update Released, now updated to v1.0.4.1

One of these features is the initial revision of the HEAD MOVEMENT setting for cockpit cameras (renaming what was before "WORLD MOVEMENT"), although users will still have the option to use the original legacy head movement if they so prefer - please check the descriptions in-game for more details as to how best configure this option to your preference.

Automobilista 2 V0.9.6.0 RELEASED, now updated to v0.9.6.1
This build introduces the new AI Strength logic - now the setting works more similarly to how it did in AMS1, as a more straight-forward AI Grip multiplier, without affecting other aspects of AI performance & behavior, to offer a much wider and more consistent scalar for setting up AI difficulty.
As in AMS1, the AI Strength slider is now restricted to a range of 70-120%, with default setting being 90% and a setting of 100% being equivalent of real world performance. Beware however that the AI in some series may still misbehave at extreme ends of the scale, and that that the new system still requires further callibration for consistency from series to series.
Given the relevance of the AI Strength development to making game more adjustable for a wider range of player skills, we´ve decided to roll this on to release already rather than hold it for v1.0.
V0.9.6 also features further physics & FFB fine tuning and a new batch of car suspension animations.... -
Automobilista - October 2017 Development Update
Hello everyone!
We have a lot of new good stuff to show you this month The next v1.4.9 update is going to be packed with several valuable developments and new content so that´s what we´ll be covering in this month´s dev update.
New native HUD / TV overlay system
For v1.4.9 @Alex Sawczuk has undertaken a complete revamp of the native HUD system to feature a lot of the valuable information seen in DynHUD & other 3rd party systems along with a brand new TV overlay system, which the added bonus of being fully fed & rendered in-game and neatly arranged into a single overall design.
This should hopefully reduce the needs for DynHUD & other external HUDs (though these will remain as functional alternatives for those who may prefer them).
Below a couple of WIP previews of these new fully native systems:
The new native HUD won´t feature a trackmap in its initial v1.4.9 version but... -
AUTOMOBILISTA v0.8.2.0 RELEASED!
V0.8.2.0 is now up on Steam, introduces several substantial updates to Physics & AI along with the new Photo Mode.
IMPORTANT: In order to ensure you completely reset your build to the latest changes, it´s strongly recommended to delete your MyDocs/Automobilista 2 settings folder and start anew - make sure to callibrate your controller, and that your pedals are callibrated to the complete 1-100 range (some users have reported needing to callibrate pedals twice for it to register - we´re still investigating it).
V0.8.2.0 CHANGELOG:
CONTENT
- Added Snetterton 100 layout
- Added Velocittá CD layout
- Added Interlagos Historic External Ring layout
GENERAL

Automobilista 2 December 2020 Development Update
Greetings everyone - here we are again for our last AMS2 Dev Update of the year!
As mentioned in our previous catch-up earlier this month, we have been working hard to deliver a quite substantial update for AMS2 in our 2020 wrap-up - the whole team has in fact been at it through the Holiday season so far in order to tick as many boxes as we´re able in this update, and we are now in process of rounding it up for release at some point before New Year´s eve.
To ease the suspense, we decided to bring this Dev Update forward a bit in order to give you all a glimpse into what you may expect for this final AMS2 update of 2020 - hope you enjoy it!
Back to the 90´s With GT1 Cars
On the content front, the highlight of the new update is the addition of the 90s GT1 Series, with 3 iconic models (Mercedes... -
Automobilista 2 FAQ
What is Automobilista 2?
Automobilista 2 is the culmination of a project developed over the course of nearly a decade. At its core, it is a comprehensive simulation of the brazilian motorsports scene, featuring all major brazilian racing series, race tracks and manufacturers.
Packing an even larger roster of diverse cars and tracks than its predecessor, Automobilista 2 will venture further into the best of international motorsports, including prestigious brands such as Mclaren and BMW along with iconic venues such as Silverstone, Mount Panorama and Imola, at the same time continuing to explore the more exotic and exciting forms of motorsports from around the world.
Boosted by a new technical partnership with the developers of the award-winning Project CARS series, Automobilista 2 is built on the MADNESS engine, providing incredible graphical quality, the most advanced dynamic weather and track condition systems in a racing... -
Automobilista 2 V1.5.6.1 RELEASED - Now Updated to V1.5.6.3
Along with the usual long list for general fixes & improvements, the new update adds the new Brazilian Stock Car 2024 season & a completely overhauled F-Ultimate Gen2.
As indicated in the 2024 March Dev Update, both the F-Ultimate Gen2 and the Stock Car 2024 already feature the V1.6 tire physics developments with adjusted hysteresis (but only partially revised thermodynamics & wear) - generally speaking the updates tires should feel slightly "sharper" and less tolerant to sliding than previously.
Both classes feature their 2024 respective DRS and Push-to-Pass rule updates, with DRS being allowed after lap 1 for the F-Ultimate Gen2 while the Stock Cars feature a higher number of shorter P2P boosts with no activation delay.
Still on the content front, following popular demand the Betonschleife (aka "concrete circuit") has been added as an option for the Historic Nürburgring , part of the Nürburgring DLC pack.
AMS2 V1.5.6 also features a much... -
Automobilista 2 November 2020 Development Update
Greetings everyone! Happy to be here again with our usual monthly catchup to bring you all up to date on the latest developments to Automobilista 2 - November has been another productive busy month, we have in fact run the clock all the way, having just wrapped our latest hotfix to Automobilista 2 (now up to v1.0.6.1), contibuting to this slightly delayed dev update
So it´s already December, and just like that 2020 has come and gone - firstly, we´d like to send our best wishes to everyone struggling to one degree or another through the latest wave of the pandemic - we hope you all are managing to stay safe as we approach what should hopefully be the final months of the ordeal we have collectively been through this year. All signs point to vaccines becoming available in the coming months so let´s all do our best to keep our heads down until we´re through to the other side!
If there is any plus side to our extended indoor routines is hopefully a bit... -
Automobilista 2 V0.9.3.1 RELEASED - Now updated to v0.9.3.2
This week´s update features further housekeeping, with focus again on the FFB / physics / AI combo as these fronts begin to come full circle for v1.0 release.
Relative to last week, the FFB changes have been a slight refactoring of the way steering arm forces pass on to FFB (should provide a slightly "tighter" wheel around the center), slightly reduced the FFB filters added in previous update & added soft lock for wheels that still didn´t have it.
Further FFB changes from now will be restricted to bug fixes, track/car-specific fine tuning & those resulting from physics adjustments - these can still add up to substantial differences, and we also plan to add a couple of car-specific adjustments so users have some room to customize them to their preferences - but as far as the core system goes however we consider FFB wrapped for v1.0
IMPORTANT: "OLD DEFAULT" FFB profile has been discontinued in v0.9.3.1 - there´s only one default FFB profile (the... -
Automobilista 2 December 2022 Development Update
Greetings everyone!
The checkered flag is about to wave for 2022, but we are not quite done with it yet! By the time you read this final dev update of the year, the Christmas gifts will most likely already have been unwrapped, but as I finish writing this Dev Update in the late hours of Christmas day, we are still putting the finishing touches to wrap up our last update of the year - the Reiza Santa may be late to arrive, but he´s got a bag full of exciting toys!
2022 was another positive year for AMS2 - the game continues to grow, and some substantial progress has been made in every front over the course of the year. It´s only fitting then to end the year with a bang: no less than 3 new DLC packs, 3 historical tracks, a whopping 12 new cars in total - evenly split between open wheelers and tin tops, with 9 cars coming in two new DLC packages featuring some of the greatest motorcars ever created, plus 3 long-awaited cars being added free of charge to... -
Automobilista 2 November 2021 Development Update Part 2
Greetings everyone!
Part 2 of our November Development Update has finally arrived with some fresh good news for Automobilista 2 in our final development sprint of 2021!
And what a run of weeks it has been so far - not only have we managed to hit some of the important developments we had planned for the month, we also managed to find and are in process of resolving some other significant issues along the way - in fact our plan had been to publish this article already with our first big game update of November, however spotting a rather sizeable physics issue just a few hours before the update was meant to be deployed has forced us back to the drawing board for a few more days - the new Automobilista V1.3 update is expected to arrive towards the end of this week.
On the plus side, V1.3 will now pack even further value to what is already a landmark update for AMS2 - so let´s get into some of what we have been working on these past few weeks!...
