This has been an issue since day one, and for all the redesigns and improvements, it is crazy that this is still a problem. I still have to rely on Joy2key, which is a pain as I also have to remember to close it each time as it gets flagged by anticheat in other games. Why is this such a pet peeve? Because I race almost exclusively in VR, amd having to constantly take off the headset or feel around for my keyboard is a pain. Unfortunately AMS2 isn't alone in having this limitation, but to me it's an important part of a modern UI and AC EVO and yes, PMR, does it better. Please please please implement remapable menu navigation and make all of the UI accesible without a mouse.
Have you noticed the gaze cursor option in Options -> Virtual Reality? Called Gaze Control. It basically gives you a mouse cursor where your headset is pointed, and you can then use a wheel button to click whatever is under that cursor. Recommend setting it to Manual Select. It's not perfect but sounds like it would be better than what you're doing right now. I'm definitely not against making the whole UI wheel-accessible. A UI rework like that might not be a short and trivial undertaking though.
Yes I've used that since the Pcars2 days, but its not ideal. And while it might not be trivial, they did redesign the UI at some point, and they actually made it even less navigatable. While the gaze kinda works, its annoying to use and there are still buttons which you can't click properly.
