I'm realy annoyed i play this sim for ...not sure how long and it always worked fine. now i have spent a lot of money buying almost all the dlc and now my game freezes up ever few seconds . What is going on !? I'm getting so tired of this non stop trouble shooting while trying to race on pc. AMS2 has alway's been my safe space for when other titles brake their sims with updates and patches. and now AMS2 is unplayable for me after spending money dlc

Have you made manual adjustments to VSYNC or Refresh Rates in the GPU software?
Have you tried reparing your AMS2 in Steam and reset your graphiccards driver?
If nothing helps try deleting your Documents/Automobilista 2 folder to reset all settings and options (be aware that you driving history in your profile is then gone too, so save the files somewhere)

As well have you made any adjustments lately to your OS? Like updates or programs installed.

I noticed that the game keeps changing the refreshrate settings in graphicsconfigdx11.xml. it was way of . i fixet it to the right number and after a few laps it started happening again. real small/short freezing at first but after a while it becomes more/longer. it sets it from: refresh_num="144002" (should be 144000) to : refresh_num="59951" . the bigger the difference from my screen settings (144Mz) the bigger the freezing.

    Hi,

    Please try:
    Verify Steam Cache
Open Steam and go to your Library.
    Right-click on Automobilista 2 (AMS2) > Properties.
Navigate to Installed Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files.
Wait for the process to complete.
Boot up AMS2 and check if freezing is solved

    Backup & Delete AMS2 Folder
    Go to My Documents
Back up the Automobilista 2 folder
    Delete the original folder
    Boot up AMS2
Boot up AMS2 and check if the freezing is solved

    Reduce stuttering:
Turning off UDP can help minimise stuttering/freezing issues. Additionally, setting pit crew details to "Player Only" improves performance.

    Alternatives:
Check hardware temperatures; it could be your CPU or GPU are throttling, thus reducing performance which leads to stutter and/or freezing.

    Marius.

It sounds like you maybe have GPU software and AMS2 settings being in conflict. I had a similiar issue when I had a new 360Hz monitor, adjusted the GPU software but on my 180Hz triples I suddenly created stutter by that.

Try the folloing: Disable VSYNC ingame. Go to your GPU software and activate VSYNC there, also set the maximum frame limit there to 3 below your max refresh rate of your monitor (144 -> 141) - I think going 144 Limit + Low Latency Mode works the same. This way GSYNC/Freesync should work perfectly and should get rid of these stutters.

Thanks for all the replies guy's. I did almnost all of it i only need to try the removing of Automobilista 2 folder. Oh and my sreen supports 18Hz , i made a mistake by saying 144Hz (that's my other screen from other pc). It's not an performance issue it runs perfectly up until the frame freezes, the game and sound keeps running and the car keeps driving . so it's not the game that freezes or stutters, it runs very smooth infact up until it freezes for a sec. or sometimes twoo...only the screen not the car and sound. just to be clear. The sim alway's ran perfect and all of a suddon this became a thing . i will try the deleting of the folder.

    temp stay's betwene 60 an 80

Could be GPU driver crashing (see windows event logs for errors like that)

I have had such issues, I think some of those were related of having another monitor running. If you have the gpu's audio option in the audio devices, you could try to disable that altogether (even if you don't use it actively, it could cause some issues).
