news from friends from São Paulo, that the rain doesn't stop in interlagos and the forecast is that the rain will get so much worse that it will look like ams2 in the current version.

Yeah the WEC finale was truly amazing! Hard to think of another racing series where literally every race was incredibly entertaining! Clearly that's what you're talking about, can't think of other major racing series that was on this weekend

Incredible drive by Max and the two Alpines, I've never seen a Cool Room this joyful, haha.

Wet weather is a great leveller and Max showed that without a doubt he is the greatest driver in F1 right now.

I think Ocon is a greatly underrated driver. Sure, he's made some dumb mistakes throughout his career (who hasn’t?), but I’d love to see him in a top car someday.

Does Ocon have 40 wins and 2 drivers titles?
    Be sensible.

on wets maybe? Ocon's driving style which is smooth drivong is very suitable for driving in wet conditions. But in other conditions he doesn't show anything special.

Ocon may not be the GOAT of F1, but he does have an uncanny ability to capitalize on chaos. So does Gasly for that matter.

Getting a podium with the Alpine ****box is impossible without rain or chaotic events. Ocon’s three podiums occured in wet conditions :
    • Hungary 2021: Won the race after chaos at the start caused by Bottas, holding his lead throughout.
    • Monaco 2023: Qualified 3rd and defended his position against Sainz on a wet track.
    • Brazil 2024: Started 4th and finished 2nd amid wet race conditions.
I guess he's pretty good when it rains, Alpine F1 had a decent midfield car in 2021 and 2022, but since 2023 it's a tractor.

With such varying car performances, it’s difficult to judge drivers against one another. However, as Senna once said, "The rain is the greatest equalizer. It makes the car secondary to the driver."

Ocon and Grosjean may very well be the two drivers I've been the least a fan of in my history of watching F1 since the 90s but, in Ocon's case, I have to admit, he's actually a very good driver (well, they're all amazing drivers but I mean relatively, of course).

When Verstappen destroyed everyone in F3, there was only 1 driver who gave him some trouble, it was Ocon.

Ocon also gave Alonso some trouble as a teammate at Renault/Alpine (and no one's done that to Alonso besides Hamilton).

On another note, F1 really needs to change their formula. Even in the rain, cars are way too easily stuck behind other cars. Before DRS, in the dry, especially in the late 90s to late 2000s, we'd get the same trains of cars following other cars - unable to pass - but, in the rain, that all changed and it almost looked like there was no such thing as "dirty air". Now, even when it rains, you'll see lots of trains. Also, the cars are so stiff and have such poor overall mechanical grip that the rain driving is so on/off in terms of grip. Before, you'd see all sorts of different lines, driving styles, drivers sliding cars in different ways to manipulate their rotation and balance, etc. Now, it all looks so static and almost robotic-like even in the rain. It almost looks like they're driving in the dry but there just happens to be way less grip and visibility.

Yup, yup, with probably the least favorable BOP for all the races, still managed to get the Manufacturer Championship. Almost had a heart attack after all the problems they had in the race, but all's well that ends well.

Can't wait for next season, will again go to Austin for the race, loved it.
