No joy killed
I’m fully aware it is a BMW wheel, but the button placement is the same as for the 992 GT3, and I find it more immersive when the badge matches the car. The badge is attached with velcro, so I swap it for a BMW badge when appropriate.
As for cost it is anything between $300 and $1500+ depending on where you source parts and what you want…
I have my own 3D printer and have reused Fanatec shifters, and saved quite a bit of money that way.

 

Automobilista 2 - Low Fuel Motorsports V1.6 MP Test @ Road Atlanta

 

Depends how much DYI you want to do and how comfortable you are with soldering.

It was my first time ever doing something like this and between breaking couple screens, buying replacements, buying the wheel frame, pcb, soldering kit, and any other part Pokornyi supplies I probably spent around $1100 on it.

Had quite a few ups and downs building it and a 7 month break between starting it and finishing it, but now that it's up and running I love it.

 

I am willing to do anything if it means bringing the total cost down

 

Now that v1.6 seems to be finally coming out (for real this time), what's everyone's final impressions of v1.5?

 

Great, but not awesome

 

Very good until 1.6 started developing....

 

To much slide with the tire.

 

Not as bad as many claim, AI that's fun to race against, fun to drive, generally have a better time with it compared to most other sims out there. I'd say the only one I can confidently say I had just as much fun with is Iracing.

Ultimately however; in the areas I enjoy 1.6 has been a large improvment on just about every front. More tracks that I love, more variety in GT's/Prototypes, 48 car grids, AI improvements, physics improvments. I get frustrated easily, and yet I rarely get angry at AMS 1.6 because whenever I make a mistake I can see exactly how I got myself in that situation, the same can not be said about previous versions of AMS 2, let alone other racing sims.

 

Frustratingly close to greatness but there are a few things that hold it back -
1) the AI being much too fast in the wet
2) The AI only using soft dry compound tyres, never mediums or hards.
3) No AI-to-AI diver swaps in endurance racing.

 

Have i missed some news? I thought we were still very much in the dark about the v1.6 launch date

The latest dev update said news will be broken down "in parts over the course of the next few days before release time", so unless I misread this horribly, the update should be coming in a few days too

1) Is much improved in1.6!
2) Unfortunately I think this might come after 1.6
3) I think this is on the cards for the future, but has any game actually done this? Seems to be a relatively "simple" but at the same time challenging feature.

Of course it won’t. Thats why I inform the guy that it might probably not be « the few days » that he think (before next monday). Just go play your 1.6 beta. I don’t like to be update for an update for an update during 8 months and be saying that it soon to be release each time.
