What has Renato done?

He's taken away our 1.6 update thread home! Sent us all out wandering aimlessly about the forums trying to find something to fill that 200-page hole in our lives!

Anyway, we Feta get some Gouda news before long or we'll all be Bleu in the face.

 

So i can say now...welcome to simracing!

 

That's life...sometimes is good, sometimes hurts!

 

I don't hope Renato will wait with the dev update until this thread reaches 200 pages!

 

I bet that renato is now cooking dev log part 2

Absolutely, with the video uploads on YouTube and Renato closing the old 1.6 thread, I'd expect a new dev update within a day or so.

It's a long way to the weekend. This thread will go high and high and high and high...

 

SIlverstone national i hope!!

TO continue the theme of the thread, I got into AMS2 as follows. I live with my girlfriend in the city and we both were students until recently. We didn't have money for a car but she was nervous that we wouldn't have experience when we needed it. As an interim I told her there are car simulators ( BeamNG) and we could get a little steering wheel and stick and practice (Logitech G29). She sounded very excited and promised she'd practice every day! So I shell out for BeamNG and the wheel and get it set up and... she doesn't like the way it grips the desk, she's worried it'll damage it. OK I say, i design a frame, get the wood cut, set up a little rig and get it ready. I get the triple screens set up, sort out the chair to be the right size, show her the game annnnnnnnd she doesn't like it. Too stressful she says.

So now i've done all this work and what am I going to do? I buy AC for like, 4 euros, and started to enjoy it. I found it so difficult, i'd get beaten by any AI at 80 difficulty. Started getting into it but something wasn't quite right, thought ACC looks good, get that but it's a bit boring. Just grinding laptimes, and the graphics had these weird artefacts.

Then AMS 2 goes on sale, people seemed to like it on youtube but it looked like Just Another Sim at the time. I just went for it one day when it was super cheap, got all the DLC for a good deal, not knowing if i'd made a mistake. Almost didn't go for it and said "I have enough simulators". Thank god I didn't. Not only does it have the BMW M1, the coolest car I could imagine when I was a little boy, but it bizarrely has not one but two classes of Fiat UNO! My dad used to race them when I was a little boy all around England, so it was just pure nostalgia driving it at Brands Hatch. So something about it just clicked with me.
Still remember the first 10 lap race where I didn't spin out or fail and won at Spa at difficulty 90 in GT3s. Even at 1.4.X it was just more fun than all the other games. Only reason would go back to AC is because Barcelona was my favourite circuit. Once the Catalunya circuit came out for AMS2 i bought it immediately and never looked back!!

Now i watch F1 and IMSA religously and constantly tinkering with little electronics projects to make buttons, a little screen for laptimes, etc.

Thankfully if any of it annoys my GF i can tell her it's her own fault!

This is the kind of story i like to read. Specially when a couple do the same thing and sahre the passion for something! Love you guys!

 

Next week LMU is releasing the Alpine and Isotta Fraschini cars and also the COTA track.
Besides that, we get mid-race saving and a Co-Op mode. Really exciting news from Studio 397!

 

Still waiting for VR support in the rF2 re-skin :-/

 

Mid race saving would be a dream in AMS 2, but from what people say its not possible because of the live track or something. I dont feel like trying LMU for now.
