Actually I agree 100% they're all games, and I should have clarified that in my post - I'm not the sort of person who gets butt-hurt over simulation games being called games (because they are). But if your intention wasn't to infer that AMS2 is a 'game' where AMS1 is a 'sim', then perhaps you need to elaborate on what you were saying when you said "AMS1 is a realistic simulation and AMS2 is a fun game".

I just don't agree that the gulf in the skills required to be successful in AMS2 compared to all other modern sims is anywhere near enough to say that it's not a realistic simulator - you still use the same skills and driving methods. Let's be honest, AMS2 doesn't belong in the same bucket as NFS:Heat, not even close :)

Hello everyone, just a quick question:
I've noticed in TT that the ghost I select is always about 0.5 seconds ahead of me at the start of the round. Is this a known bug?

Carry more speed into the start? On some tracks you don't want to start the lap as usual but take an actually slower line that ends up with higher speed when crossing into the next lap, same goes for the end of a lap where it can be helpful to take a different line since you don't care how you place your car for T1 (like on Spa just stick to the right)

Very excited about the major physics changes! I want to buy the new content so badly, so I’m hoping these changes are actually MAJOR.

Same here buddy, I always buy the new DLCs as soon as they're available to support my favorite sim of all time. I know they'll make us proud with the phisycs one day even if that day is not tomorrow!
    That Dodge Viper tho... Screenshot_20251030_113854_Instagram.jpg

So Jimmy Broadbent buys Ferrari 360 and we get Milano in the game? Coincidence?

I know my question is a bit off-topic, but I'm still searching for a fun and intelligent AI like the one in GP4. After that, I haven't found any that really captivated me. With all the technological advancements of today, is it possible that we might someday achieve a more human-like AI? What offline game would you recommend? I know NASCAR 25 and another touring car game are about to be released; I'll put my hopes on them!

That's great that you alerted me, I was hopeful. The last good NASCAR game was NR2003 by Papyrus, so let's put our faith in Project Motor Racing. Do you have any news about the AI in this game?

Thunder 2004 by EA is the highlight for me. NR2003 also has AI that is too outdated now unfortunately. It is alright-ish but cars stuck behind slow lap cars is a big issue there.

NR 25 has broken pit logic, they also cheat by having faster pitstops than the player, they get stuck behind you on road coruses if you get a penalty that forces you to stop, they get stuck behind lap traffic, they will get stuck if you run out of fuel on track, it is just a mess.

Cannot speak about PMR, i am just hoping it will be good with the AI or at least decent.

Several stuff was leaked or found by datamining. You can really look forward for what's coming, even if we don't know when :D

Also so far we got a March, July and September dev update in 2025. So it's quite safe to assume we might get another one at the end of the year.

Sadly, I think AMS2 is going to be an offline racer for me for the most part. There doesn't seem to be enough action in servers geographically near me. Most of my pings show red, and I'm on a fast wired connection that works great with most online sims. The low registrations for online races when I go in doesn't help. I almost think there should be FEWER races, more focused like the LMU dailies that are rotating to try to get a consistent set of people racing online. Even RaceRoom shows signs of figuring out how to do structured online plan and concentrate its user base there. AMS2 is just kind of 'wild west', like public ACC lobbies always were, but without the numbers.

Add to that the fact that the safety level of the online drivers in AMS2 is just ridiculously bad. Half the field is flying through the air within 3 corners of the start. I don't think anything other than concerted efforts by Reiza to build structured online play within the game is going to move the needle here.

All that having been said, if you're going to be an offline racer, it must be said AMS2 is the best offline racer, so it's worth having for that. I just have not been able to get 'into' online racing with it the way I have with the other sims on the market.

    You got it!
AMS2 is meant to be an offline racing game from the very beginning.
Maybe the online part can be improved but for me personally it's now exactly that what i ever wanted.

It's a real shame, a game meant to be played offline gets boring

Why? Because it can be played without a schedule? Or when ruining my own race I'm not ruining anybody else's day?
There's a lot of reasons to play offline and sadly it's a feature too often forgotten/half baked by developers :(

Many people play online, look at which simulator has the most active players (IR) although personally I don't like it at all, being able to race with more people, being able to do endurance races with teammates against other people and the competition is what I personally like the most, not everyone can like the same thing, but the player rates are what they are.
