It would be nice if the forum search function allowed short words. For example G29 is a common wheel many people have but is unsearchable.

Iracing is great in that regard, tons of tracks and they are all laser scanned.

 

It has a completely different business model.. You can't compare them

 

I don’t really see why iRacing should be excluded from a track-list comparison. If the discussion is about the breadth and depth of available circuits, then iRacing is the obvious benchmark: among the major sims, its track roster is on a completely different scale. The one area where it is comparatively weaker is South America, apart from Interlagos of course, and that is precisely where AMS2 has a genuine strength. That does not make the comparison invalid; it simply shows that each sim has its own area of emphasis.

And yes, I do think iRacing is a perfectly legitimate point of comparison, even though it requires a monthly subscription. The subscription model is a difference in business model, not a reason to remove it from the discussion altogether. If anything, it makes the comparison more relevant, not less, because people naturally want to weigh cost against content, service, and overall value. If a sim asks for ongoing payment and additional purchases on top, then it is entirely fair to compare what you actually get in return — including the track roster.

Both iRacing and AMS2 are serious racing simulations, both offer offline as well as online racing, and both ask you to pay for additional content if you want to expand beyond the base offering. Yes, iRacing is more expensive overall because of the subscription and the paid content model, but nobody is forced to buy every car and track. The fact that one title uses a subscription while another relies more on upfront purchase plus DLC does not suddenly make comparisons impossible. They are still competing products in the same genre, aimed at many of the same customers, and those customers are perfectly justified in comparing content libraries.

In fact, if we broaden the comparison, even RaceRoom can be brought into the discussion. On pure venue count, it also offers a broader selection than AMS2, even if AMS2 has more total layouts depending on how you count variants. So comparing these sims on track variety is not only legitimate, it is one of the most natural comparisons to make.

You can absolutely prefer AMS2’s selection, especially if you value Brazilian and South American circuits, and that is a fair preference. But that still does not make iRacing an invalid reference point. It just means AMS2 is stronger in a specific niche, while iRacing remains the benchmark for overall track quantity and coverage.

Is it just me or there are way too many pinned topics on the forum?
When I go for example to the AMS 2 general section, it often feels like there is not so much activity going one, until I remember to scroll down past the 20+ pinned topics sitting at the top to see the latest topics and messages
