Except if you do that there is a good chance you will end up with a lot of instability not too dissimilar from what the Paddock Club experienced back when extended grids were first tested a few years ago (regardless of hardware).

It's so hot in here—the room where I'm sitting at the computer feels like a sauna o_O:D

I have to wait until late this evening to record the AMS2 videos.

Lets' not get carried away now :)
As much as I enjoy AMS2 and especially the endurance content there's no chance of me ever uninstalling my several installs of GTR2.
It's not a matter of nostalgia either. As well as having all the official cars, teams and liveries from 2003/04 season, the models have greater attention to detail both visually and in their performance (different iterations of models depending on team /year). Then there's the complete track content, all this before the plethora of mods which are still available. The driving experience and feel is way ahead too with the ability to fine tune ffb to exactly how you want it to be and fewer WTF moments from the car behaviour or the AI. I'd even argue that on the best quality tracks the graphics look cleaner and are just as immersive as modern games.
I think Reiza are doing a fine job and I'll continue to support them as they develop the game.

That's the difference between a game dedicated to a couple of seasons of a single championship and a game with such a plethora of content as AMS2 across 6 decades and numerous championships.
The physics model of GTR2 still feels great to this day but it's definitely far simpler than the depth of simulation you get from modern sims like AMS2. A lot of the stuff that is actually simulated in AMS2 is fudged with broader physics systems in GTR2, which felt amazing at the time but certainly feels dated nowadays. Both games have their ups and downs, and I'm just happy we have the choice of both.

I'm thrilled we're getting a majority of the 2005 season in AMS2, not as a replacement for GTR2 but as another wicked sim to play alongside.

Correct, that's one of the few advantages that GTR 2 has over AMS 2. I love how the same car may have different interiors depending on the team.

No, sorry, not even close. For its age, GTR 2 has held up incredibly well, but no matter the custom FFB, it falls behind any given modern sim. It's good enough, definitely not better, and even less so "way ahead".

Gotta disagree with that as well. AMS 2's AI is at its worst when leaving the pits under FCY, since they aggressively swerve back onto the racing line. In GTR 2, the AI gets stuck behind slower traffic, often losing anywhere between 5 and 15 seconds per lap—on Spa, that is.
Apart from that, GTR 2's AI won't cover the inside in most cases, ignores the player more often than not, and fails to use different pit strategies to its advantage.
Modded AI behavior may improve some/all of those, but not enough to allow it to compete with most modern sims, let alone AMS 2, which is probably the best in class right now when it comes to AI racing.

That's... a massive stretch. No, GTR 2 is not as immersive as modern games. It doesn't have to be, though. It's artistic style is basically timeless, and it looks great despite its age, but it's not anywhere close to modern sims in terms of graphics. For completion's sake: graphics are probably the least important aspect of a sim, at least in my opinion.

Where GTR 2 shines is in its modding community, which, apart from skins and a very limited number of converted cars and tracks, simply doesn't exist in AMS 2.
Maybe that'll change once the game reaches EOL status, but who knows.
GTR 2 and AMS 2 are totally different games, offering vastly different experiences, so sending them both into the ring is mostly unnecessary anyways.

yes, others like force feedback, optimization and overal gameplay is still bad in PMR, but this is AMS topic, so better stick to that.

Gents……..is the fanatic csl 5nm wheel any good. There is someone selling the csl 5nm base, mcclaren wheel, csl pedals, load cell kit and qr1 adaptor all brand new for £350 boxed

I currently use the thrustmaster ts-xw and I still love it although it’s not direct drive. Is the above a decent upgrade and is it a decent option?

    thanks in advance

It's not a bad price, yes. Buy it. Keep in mind the CSL pedals are likely V1, which have potentiometers. V2 has hall-sensors which is miles better. Make sure you collect it in person, and do a test drive.

Sounds like a good deal. I would recommend adding the 8nm kit to it since it's just a different plug. Based on my experience with Simube products I guess their 8nm kit should work the same as the original one if you want to save a bit. But yes, definitely make a test drive making sure everything works.

Behold, the Ten Commandments of the Virtual Tarmac:

    1. Thou shalt love Automobilista 2 above all things.
    2. Thou shalt have no other idols, neither shalt thou worship Sim Racing YouTubers.
    3. Thou shalt not take the name of Renato Simioni in vain.
    4. Remember thy days of rest, to keep them holy unto sim racing.
    5. Honor thy updates and thy changelogs, that thy frame rates may be high and thy force feedback true.
    6. Thou shalt not blaspheme the physics engine, even though the GT3 cars remain ever slippery.
    7. Thou shalt not cause a cataclysm upon the first turn of Monza.
    8. Thou shalt not covet nor play thy neighbor's simulator, unless it be righteously crafted and its creators deemed just by the community.
    9. Thou shalt not covet the forthcoming DLC until at least three updates of bug fixes have been delivered. Thou shalt count at least two full moons after the sermon of the Apostle Jake of GPLaps before thou shalt utter thy voice upon the forums.
    10. Thou shalt not cry out for Ferrari.

And so it is written, and so it shall be driven.
May thy force feedback be strong, thy track limits respected, and thy safety rating immaculate.

    Amen.

What are we Nascar fans supposed to say ? I wish there was more Nascar content. There is barely any, just 5 NR specific tracks.

I'd love a couple shorter tracks.
