I play on Steam Deck with the following settings. Absolutly playable. Steam Deck is like a controller. I dialed in some assistence as you can see.

I've had to ditch the wheel and pedals due to hip problems.

Now I'm playing my racing sims with an x-input controller, and I'm not too bad at it, but AMS2 is bugged. There has got to be 100ms input lag at least when using gamepad.

There is no noticeable input lag in other sims. I've tried AMS1, Race 07, RaceRoom, AC (with gamepad mod), and rF2. All those sims are perfectly manageable with controller once I've dialed in the right settings, but not AMS2. There is an input delay, and while you can sort of get used to it, it just makes for an unenjoyable drive.

I've tried on 2 PCs with the same result. And I've tried 2 separate controllers too.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do. You can either pretend that the issue doesn't exist and carry on with the game or play another game that has better controller support. I reinstalled the game and gave it another chance. The gamepad support isn't that bad; it's just something you'll need to get used to as the playtime builds up.

Yeah I get the feeling this is a Madness Engine thing and probably won't change. It's ok, plenty of other great sims to play. Actually AMS1 is really good on the gamepad.

Yeah it is my go to in regards to physics, AI and controller support. The game also allows you to customize all aspects which is a huge plus. I don't have any malice or dislike towards anyone who prefers the madness engine's way of handling controllers. I just feel that they shouldn't try to cover up the issues that plague it. Either way I hope your hip gets better.
