Any progress on this? I'd love to have it working in 1.6.

And we're back again - with v2.4 (get it here on OverTake)

    The v2.4 update includes:
    • Compatibility fixes for AMS2 1.6.x
    • New style menu previews (234 unique variants!)
    • Even more liveries (now fully recreating 11 rounds of the 2023 series)
    • New IMMERSION Modding Group Preset Selector (to easily load track-specific configurations of liveries, AI drivers, helmets, tires, etc.)

As a little follow-up to the IndyCar 2023 re-release/update - we'd like to mention a few known issues and outline future plans. While we don't want to create expectations re: quick fixes or indicate any release timelines - it may be useful to address some things we've been asked about:

Known issues: We alluded to the 2.4 release being somewhat of a compromise - it had been out of action for a long time, so the priority was getting back up and running. Unsurprisingly (to us at least), a few issues have arisen. These will be addressed in a future update at some point:
    - Steering wheels (all teams have the same steering wheel type on ovals - there should be four variants )
    - Push-to-Pass (our P2P system appears to be bugged/broken for now o_O)

If you find other problems, do let us know - and constructive feedback is always welcome.

Future plans: We would like to put the 2023 season behind us at this stage (apart from fixes and maintenance), but we have already been planning and working on subsequent seasons for quite a while. Significant work has been done on '24/'25 liveries along with an overhaul of the IR-18 model to introduce the new 2024 features, including a new vented aeroscreen, lights on the rear wing and general accuracy improvements to the nose and some other elements.

There is no timeline for these seasons yet, but much of it already exists and work is ongoing. The introduction of hybrid systems half-way through 2024 presents an interesting challenge for a '24 mod. We have tested some different approaches/compromises on this - but it remains to be seen how exactly we will represent the '24 and '25 regulations. 2026 is of course a possibility too, but we would like to see the efforts that have gone into '24/'25 see the light of day first.

Here are a few test menu preview images showing some of the new 2024 model details for those with a keen eye:

    Other questions that have arisen:
    - Q:
Why include Barber/Nashville presets? A: We made a lot of liveries - so we wanted to include them all and represent the full season as accurately as we could. We don't have those two tracks (yet ) but you can use the presets at substitute tracks of your choosing. Or not. Your choice.
    - Q: What is a good setup for xyz? A: Your mileage may vary, but ovals in particular will probably require some dialing in to suit your driving style. Some of our testers had good results with moving weight distribution forward a little and adjusting tire pressures. If you find something that works well for a certain track, please feel free to share here for others' benefit.

What fantastic work!!! This mod is incredible, and I can't even begin to imagine the amount of work that went into making it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Regarding the mod itself, I find that the rear of the car slides out a lot; it's far too easy to lose control, in my opinion. Similarly, the steering feels good at first, but then suddenly becomes too sensitive, as if it's not linear. I don't experience this with Reiza's 2023 Formula USA. Take my observation with a grain of salt; I'm not an expert. I haven't been able to find a setup that mitigates this issue, but again, I'm not an expert.

In any case, a huge thank you for this mod.

These cars are definitely very loose particularly when compared to the "stock" FUSA cars which are almost impossible to spin Softening the rear roll bars and stiffening the fronts helps.

We've released another update over here on OverTake

v2.41 is a minor update to address a few issues:

    • Fixed Push-to-Pass functionality (fully revised/restored):
      • 200 seconds total P2P available per race
      • Hold 'boost' button to deploy (up to 20 seconds per lap)
      • Only available in race sessions from lap 2 (disabled on lap 1)
      • Only available on road/street circuits (disabled on ovals)
      • Displayed on dash as a percentage of total remaining
      • Displayed in HUD as light blue boost widget:
    • Added race-specific P2P at Laguna Seca (150 seconds total, up to 15 seconds per lap)
    • Fixed bug where all teams had the same steering wheel type at ovals (there are four unique wheels included in the mod)
    • Fixed bug where the primary (black sidewall) tire texture was not loading when hard slicks were selected at road/street courses.

    Other known issues:
    - AI drivers tend to spin at T1 at Sebring School layout for some reason. Not sure there's anything we can do about that (we can't tune the AI on a per-corner basis).

Let us know if you find any other issues.

    Enjoy!
