Yea I agree it’s becoming apparently clear that creating a completely new quote on quote realistic sim is so hard to do, that that when it’s first sold to the public, it’s far behind its previous entries or other sims on the market.
It’s also still such a niche market that’s now getting to saturation and the market is starting to lose interest in titles releasing in an unfinished state.
So yea I would think continuing a sim and improving it constantly would be the best bet.

I think the biggest takeaway from Jimmy's video, is that despite some minor issues with how he feels the tyres should feel, he was enjoying the racing.

It also has very good F1 car mods (e.g. the RSS ones) and, as they state in the video, they can either modify some parameters by themselves or ask the modders to do it for them, in order to make the simulation closer to something they feel is a useful training tool. But yeah they probably do it mostly to learn the track layout, general braking points, etc., and also for the fact that they can set up a session and play the game together with their friends, while obviously Max can't invite Gaby to join him in some Red Bull simulator session and share tips with him in front of his team principal. Also, they're not gonna use AC1 to learn the limit of their own IRL cars, of course.

That being said, for people here that haven't played AC1 recently, you definitely should. Especially, imo, the RSS mods, if you can afford them. The RSS GT3s are very enjoyable to drive there, for example, even though not without their own set of flaws (cold tires have too much grip, etc.). In general I like them more than the AMS2 GT3s. It won't give you amazing AI racing. Also, standing starts with these modern cars (GT3s, GTPs, etc.) are awful. But as a hotlap sim I find it quite amazing.

Everytime I see "Youtubers" talking about racing games physics with limited real racing experience, I think that if Max Verstappen play the same game he will not give a crap about It and just will drive fast and have fun in the real world physics of the game.

Agree with you about the feel of the cars but you hit the nail on the head regarding ai, it's only good for hot lapping or online racing tbh.
