I've had this happen before after an update and it's happening again now. I see that I'm not alone, another user has posted a bug report here: Bug Reports - Automobilista 2 (Read the Opening Post) Hoping there will be a solution soon. In the meantime, I have discovered two workarounds: Launch AMS2 while disconnected from the internet. Revert to the previous AMS2 build on Steam. If I launch AMS2 while disconnected from the internet the last car used in the game works perfectly, however if I launch AMS2 while connected to the internet the last used car always reverts to the Chevy Cruze Stock Car. The first workaround is my preference because I lose access to the Stock Car portion of the Racin' USA DLC that I purchased with the second workaround. The bug is 100% repeatable and can be produced at will by reverting either of the workarounds.
