Ever since the new update, my VR sessions are freezing up to 10 seconds during races. I can still hear the car going off track and even the force feedback as it does so. But my steering input doesn't change the car's trajectory while the graphics are frozen. Then it unfreezes and I'm crashed into whatever was in front of me.

Anyone else experiencing this. Never happened before during the entire years I've played it in VR.

Computer is 2020 HP Omen Laptop, 16gig ram, Nvidea RTX2060-16gig, Win10

After doing a bunch of tests, it happens in flatscreen as well. So in total, I've tried Oculus link, SteamVR, Virtual Desktop and Flatscreen. In ever race, it freezes for about 10 seconds while the game still runs in the background (I can still hear my car going off the track).

Happens to me when settings at higher levels mainly online

try lower graphic settings do there’s lots of headroom but frustrating I know
    Lower headset resolution too

it’s caused by bottlenecking in your Pc
If good headroom then the peaks of weight on the system will not cause bottleneck

I will try that, the settings never posed a problem before though.

So I deleted the sim from my computer, removed all remnants of it, deleted my NVIDIA shader cache files, and re-installed. Same problem. After 3-4 laps at Laguna Seca, the screen freezes for 10 seconds and my car ghost rides off the track. It happens on other tracks as well, but Ive done extensive testing on the Laguna Seca and it happens after 3-4 laps.

If this was not a problem for you before, and you want to check if it is indeed the latest update of Automobilista 2 that causes the problem, here is how you can test on the previous version of Automobilista 2:

In Steam, right-click on Automobilista 2 in the games list, select Properties, then select Betas, and from the dropdown menu, switch to the branch called "PreviousBuild"

I haven't checked what version is currently in that branch, but I'm guessing it's version 1.4.7 which was the one before the current 1.4.8?
(It is also possible to download even older versions using SteamDB and DepotDownloader, there are guides on how to do this if you search on the internet.)

If the problem is not there on the PreviousBuild version, then you've found a bug which was introduced in the latest update. However, if the problem is still there in PreviousBuild (or an even older) version of Automobilista 2, then the problem is triggered by something in your setup that has changed for you recently and that isn't Automobilista 2 itself.

    Pretty good logic for faultfinding.
But also a good description of how to launch a former version of AMS2.
Hehe and good to learn something new - thanks :)

ByTheWay: Something obvious if such a thing starts to happen is to check Event viewer in Windows if there is an event at exactly the same time as the freeze.

So I reverted to previous version, and the crash still happens. Turns out after doing about 10 races on multiple tracks, the freeze happens exactly 10 minutes into each race, no matter what graphic settings I use, and both in AI racing and Solo hotlap.

    Update:

So the freeze happens exactly 10 minutes into each race. Even on different tracks. So far I've tested Laguna Seca, SIlverstone, and the Nordschliefe. This freeze happens in both AI racing and Solo hotlap. Even with the settings turned down.

At least you now know that it is not the latest update that started your problems.

Try turning off superfetch as well or hardware accelerated graphics

it happened to me times ago with acc and RF2, turned out to be the ram, underclocked a bit ( removed oc ) fixed it, try lower ram clock just for test. Dunno if it's the same but i was having the car sound, ffb working audio of but frozen image onscreen like the game was in pause.

I've tried all the suggestions and still same thing happens. Exactly ten minutes into any session, it'll freeze, without fail. If I pause the game, itll delay the freezing by that same amount of time. But no matter what, when I reach 10 minutes of in-session time, it freezes. If I restart the race, again..ten minutes. It can't be something with my system,

On my previous PC, I had Revive installed so that I could play Oculus Rift games. What happened then was that 2-3 minutes after SteamVR was launched, Revive automatically launched the Oculus Home application even though it was not required for anything, causing a few seconds of freeze in Automobilista 2. As I couldn't figure out how to completely remove Revive, my workaround was to launch Oculus Home before launching Automobilista 2.
