So, I've been playing Assetto Corsa recently partly because AMS2 seems to have fully functioning controls only sometimes. FFB worked out of the box when I first installed the game, broke after the last big update, then worked briefly again (no idea why), and then broke again. You can rebind inputs, but not guide the game towards working FFB, as far as I can tell. The buttons might not work until restart of the game, however. When the FFB worked momentarily, initially only FFB worked and I had to rebind the buttons. Has anyone found a way to fix FFB? I have tried deleting the `Automobilista 2` directory in `Documents`, but it did not work and I wouldn't want to reset all my stats every time I need to fix the FFB. I've also done the usual file integrity check with no results. I've tried resetting all the controls to defaults and then just rebinding the buttons. I know the game *can* do it, but it's like it's sending FFB to the wrong device or something. On Vanilla Arch with G29. Have tried ProtonGE 10-34, Proton Experimental and bunch of others. Edit: ProtonGE 7-44 is able to get FFB, but only until the you tab out, after which it loses FFB. So a workaround for now is to use 7-44GE with Gamescope to make sure the window "stays focused". This also prevents the annoying main loop pause on out-of-focus you normally get and keeps the game running. Edit2: should also mention that this problem started with version 1.6.9.5.
Thank you so much. I have a G27 and had the same issue since the 1.6.9.5 update on bazzite and POP.os. I got it to work again for a while by reverting to previous version of the game. Just curious how did you figured out to use GE 7-44, other than just trying random version?
Glad to hear I'm not alone with this and that I was able to help. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3748 I did not think it would actually work, but people talked about losing FFB on older Proton version when tabbing out. Turns out whatever Proton 7 did differently actually worked. But like they say in the Git issue, FFB is lost on tabbing out. Was able to play my weekly bot endurance race again today and am pretty happy. This isn't a proper solution though 'cause Proton 7 is years old at this point and possibly a nightmare with 3-monitor and VR setups, but at least we can play for now.
