In Automobilista 2 I get no force feedback whatsoever. The default wheel spring is all the wheel provides making the game almost unplayable.

Force feedback works fine on Assetto Corsa, Euro Truck Sim 2, BeamNg etc on the same system. I use latest Logitech G-Hub without issues.

This looks like the actual force feedback system is completely disabled, not just weak force feedback settings. I've tried various Force feedback settings in AMS2 Custom, Default, Default+ etc.

Even more annoying, once I have started Automobilista 2, if I then close it and start other games such as AC I now have no force feedback at all in those either!

I have tried unplugging the wheel and using a different USB port, no difference, I need to restart the PC to get FFB in other games again.

Has anyone else seen this and have a solution?

On further testing it seems Automobilista 2 is changing system wide FFB settings in the Windows registry for some reason. This is a Windows 10 x64 system 32GB RAM, 1080 Nvidia card, Intel 7700 CPU, Samsung 2TB SSD.

I can determine this because Logitech developer support gave me a registry file a couple of months ago that fixes disabled G29 force feedback system wide on Windows 10 64 bit.

After AMS2 has broken force feedback system wide, if I run this registry file I get force feedback in other games again (without restarting Windows). However it still has no affect on AMS2 at all. If I run AMS 2 again, FFB is broken again system wide.

What on earth are the AMS2 developers doing? Firstly why do they need to change the common windows registry (not AMS2 specfic) at all, and then leaving Windows in a broken state until I run this reg file?

Here's the reg file content for anyone who may benefit/interested:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_046D&PID_C24F\OEMForceFeedback]
    "CLSID"="{1ED6DDBB-0401-4498-A093-7D249203200C}"

In summary, every time I run Automobilista 2 it breaks force feedback SYSTEM WIDE and rebooting does not resolve the issue.

    Here's what I have tested:

    Start Windows/Steam
Play Assetto Corsa, Force feedback working.
    Play ETS2, Force feedback working.
Play Automobilista 2. Force feedback DISABLED
Play Assetto Corsa, Force feedback DISABLED
    Play ETS2, Force feedback DISABLED
    Restart Windows/Steam
Play Assetto Corsa, Force feedback DISABLED
    Play ETS2, Force feedback DISABLED
Play Automobilista 2. Force feedback DISABLED
Run registry file from Logitech dev support
Play Assetto Corsa, Force feedback working.
    Play ETS2, Force feedback working
Play Automobilista 2. Force feedback DISABLED
Run registry file from Logitech dev support
Play Automobilista 2. Force feedback DISABLED
    etc
    etc

This "magic" registry file was provide by a Logitech support developer. I have no idea what it is actually fixing or why I even need it. (Why is it not in the GHUb installer?)

However it appears AMS2 is reverting / overwriting /deleting this registry fix and therefore breaking FFB system wide.

I purchased the game on Steam recently and have spent 105 minutes not playing the game but simply trying to get FFB working.

I'd like a response to this from the developer Reiza please.

If I can't get this resolved in within 15 minutes (in the game) I will be in excess of the ridiculous 2 hour refund limit. So either there is a quick fix or I will need to get a refund.

Broken force feedback is simply a deal breaker and the fact it breaks other games on the system and that can only be fixed by a "magic" logitech reg file is is even worse.

I've been through that whole nightmare about 2 months ago when I bought the G29.

Long story short, back then I had reverted to an older LGS version and it sort of worked for some games, but once Logitech gave me the reg file and I updated to latest GHUB my system is happy and the wheel works with FFB for all games other then AMS2 now.

So I am very reluctant to touch anything on the Logitech side as my testing does show it is now very specific to AMS2.

Someone on Steam mentioned something about the "Madness" engine changing registry values and causing the G29 wheel to stop being reconised at all.

Not quite the same as my scenario, the G29 is recognised and I can drive vehicles but FFB is completely absent so driving is almost unplayable.

Does anyone know more about that?

    Did you try this?

It looks like the madness engine is changing registry values for G29

I did quickly read that but saw the date almost 3 years ago and assumed it is no longer relevent. Also some more recent posts there say it doesn't work reliably.

I guess I can try it, but even if it works, manually updating the registry every time I want to play the game is just lame from a developer if it still exists after almost 3 years.

    Thanks for the reminder anyway.

OK I followed the registry change mentioned over here and it had no effect by itself.
It looks like the madness engine is changing registry values for G29

However if I start AMS2 first and then, while in the main menu I apply both that registry change and the registry file provided by Logitech, Force feedback is now immediately enabled in AMS2 (the wheel goes loose) and then works in race/practice as expected.

However if I close and start AMS2 again it reverts the registry values mentioned in that thread and FFB is disabled system wide again.

    Dear Reiza develoeprs,
It is AMS2 that is reverting this registry settings. It is NOT Logitech GHUB, NOT Project Cars 1 or 2 (I don't own either and have never installed them), not any other software.

I have RegEdit running on another screen, before starting AMS2 the registry values are unchanged, after AMS2 reaches the main menu I can refresh Regedit and see the registry values are reverted to the broken values. I am happy to provide a video on Google drive if you really don't believe this.

Fix this please, this is absolutely not an acceptable workaround. I am also now up to 118 minutes in Steam.
    Please respond.

Bumping for a response please Reiza.

I am currently on my refund time limit in Steam but purchased the game more then 14 days ago (I only installed it a week ago). Therefore I will likely need to link to this thread on my Steam refund request, if I reluctantly do need to refund.

Your game looks visually impressive and the driving model etc great. I first saw AMS2 on GPLaps channel on youtube, the recent Indy racing he did in AMS2 was amazing.

However obviously it is unacceptable that a game that breaks force feedback for my wheel in all other games while not even having working force feedback itself. Then the only "fix" is to continually run unofficial, unsupported registry fixes that may work now and fail in future.

So would really appreciate if you can answer these please.

Are you aware of this issue?
    Will this be fixed?
    When will this be fixed?

    Thanks

    @AshJH
I want to thank you man. I saved that key Logitech gave you. >IT WORKS AGAIN!<
    Maybe it helps Reiza to say that mine was {920B2620-BE85-4D30-8797-8BA0A23A5D53}
Like many more I also play AC, AMS2 but a big name missing was ACCompetizione.
As you can read on the internet, the endless and uncontrolable scrolling up of your menu in ACC during a race is also fixed with your register key. Been looking for a solution for some time now.
It even came to a point I didn't play it any more.
I can only concure in all you say. Removing G-hub, reinstalling the old LSG, doing it all over again...been there, done that. It doesn't help. It almost made me buy an other (non Logitech) wheel.
You should go to Logitech with your finds. Many people will leave there brand because of this.
You got me convinced, but I'm a nobody in this story.
Once more, thanks man! You fixed it for me.
    kr,
    Chris

Your issue is NOT a game issue. All the rest of us have already fixed this, you're just not doing the complete process. You need to completely remove ALL Logitech software, files, codes, values, whatever, and start over.

Un-plug your wheel from your PC, then Use Google to find this Logitech "WheelDriverCleaner.exe" file, and run it.
Then, go to your Device Manager in Windows and remove all Logitech game controller devices.
Then Run CCleaner to clean your registry.
Then load and run the standard Logitech Profiler, Version 9.02.65 , re-plug your wheel.
Then check for the correct Driver version 8.85.75.0.
    Then check your registry here:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_046D&PID_C24F]
"OEMName"="Logitech G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel USB"
    "OEMData"=hex:43,00,08,10,19,00,00,00

Absolutely make sure the hex value starts with 43

Basically, you have to start over from scratch after cleaning out all that crap off your PC.
Note: If you load up Project Cars2 and play it, you might find that the hex code will be changed again. So, either change it back, or just forget about PC2. The game is full of issues anyway.

Did this fix your issues? I just purchased a new G29 and I have no force feedback, just a stiff wheel. I've tried the fixes shown above and it still does not work. I have not yet tried it in any other games as AMS2 is the only sim I have installed right now. I suppose I can give RR a try too.
