I take a look at the 1976 Nurburgring Nordschleife F1 Grand Prix. Although the original Spa Francorchamps was banned in 1970 due to pressure from the drivers, the Nordschleife remained on the calendar until 1976.

Five competitors died in 1970 prior to the erection of Armco while 1971 only had two deaths in comparison so I assume that was considered a good result for safety. In fact, the number of fatalities in its 83-year puts the toll at 73 but it was 51 by the end of 1976, while Spa has claimed 48 lives in total and 33 up to the end of 1976.

Timo’s reading my mind. A race at Jerez 1988 is exactly what I currently also have in the YouTube processing queue.

 

Does anyone know why the audio pops in the cockpit view, for some cars and not others?
The popping was prevalent here, but not found in my previous video with the MP4/6, despite not changing anything at all in the interim.

I had to use the audio from the onboard recording, from lap 2, which had no popping at all.

With no Historic 1987-1990 layout/version of Silverstone available (please add this, @Renato Simioni Reiza!), this is the closest we can get to 1988 British GP action. Honestly, this track looks a bit too vintage(kerbs, Armco, sponsors, etc) for late 1980s F1 cars, and it features the first Woodcote chicane, instead of the revised version in 1987, but it’ll have to do.
