How do you know which tires the AI is using? It's not displayed at all!

F1 is the easiest to see because the tyres have designated colours. However it's known that regardless of class the AI will always use soft on a dry track and will only pit to new softs if you turn on mandatory pit stop.

I spent many hours yesterday on the new update. TLDR: It's awesome!
That having been said, multi-class AI still needs a little work. Even in a practice session, slower class cars are fighting a bit too hard with higher class cars. You get inside them and instead of yielding the corner to the faster class, they fight and force you to treat them as a class competitor. I don't expect them to jump out of the way but I do think that there should be a little more AI Awareness of "this isn't my fight" from them.

Also, shouldn't the grid for a mixed class race always be ordered by class, regardless of qualifying result? Having a LMP starting behind a ton of GT3's doesn't seem right.

Also, driver swap AI still is like 2.5-3 seconds slower than me on average. Is there any way to make it run the same kinds of times I am?

In an online or offline race, is there a way to see what tires the other drivers or A.I. are using?

In a 3 hour race in GT1 the AI in the Astons, Corvettes, and Vipers only do around 35 minutes a stint at the beginning of the race while the Maseratis and Murcielagos do their full fuel stint of around an hour and 10 minutes:

While the Astons kept this strategy for most of the race and did a slightly longer stint at the end, the Corvettes and Vipers attempted to go to the end after their 3rd stop, which caused the some of the Vettes to splash n dash at around 4 minutes to go, while some of them and a majority of the Vipers just ran out of fuel and DNFd, while the only 2 finishing Vipers ran out of fuel crossing the line effectively:

Also the GT2s seem like they can go way longer on fuel than IRL, if iirc their max was around 1 hour and 20 minutes, while 2 of the Porsches and one of the Milanos did nearly 2 hours before coming in:

Also not really related but the Lambo gets a 4 man tire change stop while the other cars have the 2 man like they should:

The UI doesnt show other cars tyre compounds. Not sure if this info is exported through shared memory.

With that said, afaik AI is always on softest compound available in dry races for now.

Thanks! I wonder because I went for a race leaving my tire choice on default i.e. Automatic By Weather, and the track was quite hot so it put me on Meduims (which made sense), so if it was putting me on Medium by default, I was thinking surely it would be doing the same for the A.I.
But then again I think I read from the devs that A.I. always choose softest, so maybe not.

100? So you still have 20 points of unused AI skill left? Or does 100 % mean you had AI skill at 120?

i thought 100 is realistic and what above 100 is alien. what a weird system it is in this case

Fair. I don't know why it goes from 70 to 120, but use the whole range as needed.

Yep, I'm not sure what 100% actually represents in AMS2 but its not that fast.

I'm a very average driver and run between 105 and 108. Also if you have a short multiclass qualifying the AI never seem to get a clean lap where as it's far easier for the real life driver to navigate the traffic so it's not particularly accurate unless you make the qualifying longer.

Just set the qualifying session to private mode.

Hey everyone, after the update, it seems Imola has regained some grip. What do you guys think?

100% doesn't represent realism — it's purely a difficulty indicator. It's not uniform but dynamic, so you need to adjust accordingly. For example, at Imola, I believe you'd stand no shot against 100% AI. At Spa or Le Mans, it'd be tough but still possible. At Sebring, even a rookie like me can pull off a win.

I've spent a lot of time racing with the AI, and it's pretty good. It fights for position aggressively and makes natural mistakes.

But there's something that could make it much better, and that's that the AI, in all configurations, is quite bad on the first lap.
I can start in 50th place and by the first corner I might be in 30th. After the first corner, the AI tends to stay single file, showing zero initiative to ride alongside someone to try and overtake, and zero desire to defend against someone who's passing them.
The next improvement I would make to the AI would be to improve its performance when racing very close together in a large group, like on the first lap, avoiding these scenarios where it's too easy to gain position in the first few corners.

It would be nice if AMS2 could have the difficulty set on a per track level. I'm quite often cursing myself after qualifying near the front at 110 on one track, then forgetting to change it for the next and being near the back.

I put together a video of the current biggest AI issues - their unsafe rejoins, sometimes very slow recovery and also zero ability to go around slow/stopped cars that lead to even bigger incidents that the player can easily avoid.
