Ok I tested a bit. It's definitely not an AI issue to me, more of a huge issue with the stock AMG GT4 setup. It understeers on braking, it understeers off throttle, it understeers on throttle.
I adjusted a few things to make that car rotate a bit. Front ARB down to 1, Rear ARB up to 3, Rear Wing to Zero, Clutch Preload down to 30Nm. With that the car still is not agile in any way, but is able to properly handle Spa.

Here's a short clip. I had to lift a bit earlier to not crash into the Audi, but in the telemetry you can see that I just lifted, stayed in 5th gear and my speed didn't below like 204 (you usally dropped down to 190). This was againts 110% AI with high aggression and I way pretty much in their pace

With other more agile cars like the Porsche it's defiintely easier to get eau rogue by just lifting even in stock setup, but the AMG is a beast in terms of power, so what the car might struggle in fast corners it definitely get's back on the long straigths.

Yes, often they go in the pits with mechanicals and it's announced a few laps later that they have retired, so that looks right for a 2 lap race.

I installed these and tried the following:

Stock USA Gen 1, 20 percent distance of a real Nascar road race, 5x mechanical failures, nobody retired. I note that the expected failure time range for this class isn't listed in the Customising AI drivers OP. Perhaps they aren't programmed as having mechanical failures? In the skinpack, how did you decide on the reliability values, did someone give you a range to use?

BMW procar. Before I started, I noticed that there is no AI file with that skinpack and the livery names also don't match the names in the Names+ AI file. I edited the names AI file so the 5 Swiss and Austrian drivers in it would match one of the liveries in the skinpack - these drivers have 0.5 vehicle reliability. I did a 100 km race at Le Mans (7 laps) again with 5x failures, so equivalent to about 150 minutes of racing. Two of the 21 "normal" i.e. unmodified drivers retired with mechanicals, whereas among the drivers from the skinpack there were two mechanical retirements and one also lost more than a lap of Le Mans with some issue that was eventually repaired. That suggests that outside the custom AI file, the Reiza default drivers have a reliability of 1.0 or even higher. The real M1 procar races were about 30 minutes, so if you do sync to race with this one then you shouldn't expect many or any retirements if everyone is calibrated to go 400 minutes between retirements. You should still have been observing at least some though, so this is a hmm.
