But I don't have the issue you seem to have, I race with the AI at 109-115% difficulty and they can overtake me without hitting me and give me a proper fun challenge. Also as explained by Renato himself on a post above, you can't judge the AI racecraft on a practice/qualifying session.

The AI do have difficulties overtaking each other, but not the player, they are much better in that regard. I recommend high aggression and I am having some very nice and fun battles with them, and have very rarely gotten spun by them.

@Mazdaspeed My experience is very similar to yours. In fact your words could easily have been written by my own hand :)

    Generic reply:
Having said that, just because my experience is this, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be the same for others racing in different classes.
I stick to slower classes, the “quickest” being the JCW Mini, and recently the COPA Classic B class. I find these classes drive and race like even the AI pays for its own damage and would offer to pay the damage they caused to your car… very gentlemanly. Even in the case where I am multi-classing with faster series, like mixing the COPA-B with the COPA-FL’s.

Is it the same in the faster classes? With the number of reports of overly-aggressive AI behaviour… as the saying goes, there’s no smoke without fire.

There are so many variables involved that Reiza can only take each report on a case-by-case basis. Which is why they have asked for as many details as possible when reporting these issues. They need enough information to be able to replicate it so that they can see it for themselves, understand it and ultimately do what they can to rectify/improve it for all of us having the same issue.

It’s not an exact science when you’re on the edge of progress, Reiza are on that edge of progress and progress takes time.

What is clear is that if we have these issues then we simply need to report it with enough detail for it to be replicated by the Reiza employee who picks it up. If we all do that, then progress may just be made that little bit faster.

    All the best
    Andy

Oh, and Happy Christmas/Holidays to you all :)

I raced with AI set to 120 on 24h nord layout, GT3 Gen2/Gen1. I noticed 2 things. They might be too fast with full tank or too slow with empty tank. I load max fuel (in this case 992 GT3 Gen2, which is 100L) and at the very start of the race (lap 2, so the tyres are hot) Im not able to keep up with any car at all, but as I burn the fuel im able to outpace every Gen1 car with 0 problems (4+ seconds per lap), while Gen2 are within my range. Tyre wear is authentic. Im not sure if thats global problem with AI, but something to look into, at least for nordschleife.

Another thing is that I believe MAX aggression AI might be sticking to the back of the player car a bit too much. They didnt hit me once, as I kept my line they respected me enough, but its scary when AI is almost draft bumping me. They are perfectly safe, its just a bit unhinged behavior - especially considering that I have a lot of experience in simracing and I never seen anybody who can keep this close for entire laps and either not overtake me or crash me. Maybe some calibration here is required.

Great, but I'd prefer not to do that. At the moment that is the workaround I accept that.

I’m currently running a custom multiclass championship with GT3 Gen1, GTE, LMP2 Gen1, and DPi. I’d like to provide some feedback on the performance of certain cars, hoping these can be adjusted to improve the gameplay experience for everyone.

    Car Performance Adjustments:
    GT3 Gen1:

    • BMW M6: This car is noticeably inconsistent compared to its competitors. Even assigning maximum values in custom AI files, it’s nowhere near competitive under any conditions. In my opinion, it should at least match the current performance level of the McLaren (as it is in AMS2) or, at the very least, have the ability to contend for victories in some races.
    • Mercedes: It should be brought to the current level of Audi and Porsche, as it feels slightly slower than it should be.
    GTE:

    • BMW: This car consistently lags behind the Corvette and Porsche. It’s missing about a second per lap and feels underwhelming.
NOTE: These adjustments concern AI-controlled cars only.

    Track-Specific Feedback:
    Sebring:

    • In the section from Hairpin to Collier, the AI is noticeably slower compared to other parts of the circuit, especially at Hairpin, where both braking and cornering speeds drop significantly.
    Daytona:

    • The first corner is occasionally cut by AI cars onto the grass, causing them to crash into the tire barriers. This tends to happen during heavy battles between multiple cars.
    Road America:

    • AI struggles a bit with overtaking slower cars compared to the smoother experience seen on tracks like Daytona or Sebring.
I hope this feedback can help fine-tune the experience for all players.

I never had it on before, but I checked anyway and I can confirm refuelling is off. If I have the time, I'll repeat the race over the weekend and see if it happens again.

Would it be possible to program some kind of "new logic" that makes the AI leave the pits in larger intervals in qualifying (something about 10-15 seconds)?
That would not help too much on short tracks with large grids, because there, the course will be crowded sooner or later.
But on long circuits like Road America, AI could have at least one fast lap before getting stuck in traffic.

reading through a lot of these, apart from obvious glitches it feels like some people want the ai to overtake and re-overtake each other multiple times a lap.... that's far from realistic especially in cars that don't have DRS or P2P.
they sometimes still have a tendency to escort you off when you pass them (which can be overcome with a custom file) but all in all I think they're behaving themselves ok
I had a Porsche battle, indy battle, and F1 battle recently and all of them were engaging with passing up and down the field and they raced me pretty well.

And cars not passing lap after lap even though they are glued to each other the entire race and also backing off from easy overtake every lap are also not realistic. Honestly not a fan of cars overtaking and re-overtaking the entire time on tracks with the better AI lines but it's more frustrating to see the AI backing off from the easiest overtakes in the universe when they have the advantage to do so.

I’ve been running some races to better analyze the performance of GT3 Gen1 and GTE cars. Based on what I’ve observed so far, on average, the Mercedes is about a second slower than the Porsche and Audi. The BMW, on the other hand, is lagging by a bit more—around 1 to 1.2 seconds. Notably, the BMW struggles with consistency during races, where it inevitably falls back. In qualifying, it occasionally manages to put in a strong lap, coming in under a second behind Audi and Porsche, but this is rare.

The BMW M8 GTE faces a similar situation, consistently missing about a second per lap to compete with the Corvette and Porsche (the best of the three). However, performance improves significantly with the low-drag configuration. In this setup, the gaps for the BMW GTE are narrower, though it still lags behind both in qualifying and race pace. Regardless of whether it’s the standard or low-drag configuration, the car lacks race consistency.

As always, these observations pertain to AI-driven cars. It might be an issue with the setup used by the AI or other parameters influencing the car’s behavior.

I hope this information is helpful. Perhaps I could provide additional documented data and conduct further experiments to improve balance and ensure more competitive racing between the various manufacturers in these categories.

my experience is different to your's, so if that is the case I can understand why you would be frustrated.
can I ask are you using any custom AI stuff or just the stock standard vanilla game?

Another thing I've noticed in GT3 Gen1 is that the Porsche, when it's in a battle with me or other AI drivers, tends to enter a kind of pendulum effect. Sometimes the bot recovers, other times it goes off track. It's a nice effect to watch, but it should only happen occasionally.

I have a pretty annoying problem with AI. When I overtake the AI on the inside of a curve, because it has left a free space, even though I have clearly gained position, the AI always ends up hitting me and taking me off the track. It's like they are blind in that situation.
It happens to me on all the tracks and in all the cars.

That happens with the Porsche gen2 as well and I’ve noticed other IMSA cars do the same so I dont think it’s a Porsche thing.

AI needs different PIT logic for nordschleife (with GP layout), at least in GT3 Gen2 cars that I tested. I drove Porsche 992, it can get 100L, thats barely enough for 7 laps (2.2L left in tank), but ai tend to do either 5 or 6 laps depending on the car. This should be fixed as 1 lap less/more for nordschleife is huge. It cant pit 1 lap early on nordschleife. I drove with 120 AI skill.

Did the race at Silverstone again, F-Ult G2, single race, 50% race distance (26 laps), 2x tire wear, authentic fuel, no mandatory pit stops, weather overcast to sunny and back to overcast . I gave the AI 40 min to practice, quali 20 minutes. I can't be sure about the weather, but everything else should be the same as before. The race unfolded very similar, AI pitted lap 7/8 and again lap 15/16. I pitted a lap or two later both times. This time the AI did not pit a third time. So, it's not happening every time. What stood out was that previously it was literally everybody who pitted a third time.

I repeated the race a third time in Championship mode with the same parameters. Unfortunately, my game crashed (it's a me issue with my graphics card) and I can't say for sure how the race would have unfolded, but by lap 9 nobody had pitted, and my tires were still good as well. Everything looked like it would be a one stopper for everybody. My question is, if I use Championship mode, and set the race to 52 laps and choose 50% race distance, should I still set the tire wear to 2x in the options menu? When I use Championship mode, I always set the tire wear to authentic.

If you want to simulate a real race distance in half the laps then you should set both fuel and tire wear at 2x on championship as well.

Did you use the soft tires as well? Did the AI lose performance in line with yours due to tire wear? I haven't done too much driving with the modern F1, but in the classics and retros long races are not really fair to the player because the AI has a huge advantage in that they not only use the softs but those softs are as durable as the mediums or hards and they barely lose any performance due to wear.

I was looking at 2x fuel a few weeks ago for a race at Montreal and I couldn't fit twice as much fuel in the tank. I wasn't feeling like running out of fuel that particular time, but it makes sense, and I'll give it a try.

I am using the soft tires, and I have to say I find the AI behavior has much improved in v1.6. The AI tires and mine seem to be wearing at similar rates now. That's why I found the Silverstone race so enjoyable and plausible with two stops for both. On v1.5 I always had to turn on mandatory pit stop, because the AI could just drive forever with no loss of performance. Spa and Montreal are similar, but everybody has to make just one stop. Suzuka seems to be off, but that could be because the AI race pace seems to be too fast compared to qualifying. For me to keep up in the race I have to drive like crazy and still cars that qualified ahead are driving away and cars behind drive by. By lap 5 my tires are cooked, and I have to pit. Because of that I have to pit more than the AI.

Speaking of improvements, the AI has yet to ruin a qualifying for me and back markers are not racing me anymore. I have private qualifying turned off now.

Some annoying issues are still there since day one:

    - AI does weird lateral moves in the breaking zones, unable to hold a line, just moving over to your car when you are beside them
    - When racing in a pack, car in front is breaktesting you whilst car behind is attacking like crazy
    - On corner exits, AI goes extremely slow instead of accelerating. When you touch their rear, because you were surprised of that behaviour, they brake even more and almost stand still.
