He can't be wrong. He laserscanned it with his own eyes almost thirty years ago...from his camping chair. A far more superior perspective than any modern day on-track device.

 

OK, then please show us your photos!
Maybe were are all wrong, maybe all the videos and pictures were finding today are fakes, maybe all track maps from that time, wether if created today or original from 1991 are wrong.
If you are so convinced that you are right and we are all wrong, please give us any evidence OR LET IT BE, FOREVER!

The marked path was added in 2004, for motorcycles I think
EDIT: I am wrong. This shortcut/path was added 1997

And that's the looking of todays Club-chicane


By the way: this is from 1945 compareable with the layout of Stowe and Club till 1990

I'm tired now.......... Please dream up something new and different, meanwhile this discussion is boring.

 

Just an idea for those more openminded drivers who want to check out how great it is to use the track layout I proposed.
Because I have just realised that at least in LB mode it is actually possible to use this great Historic track layout that Reiza hopefully will unlock (soon ) - more or less for free (workload wise).

If you load the "amputated" Silverstone 2001 its possible without any visual "obstructions" to use the same smooth entrance to Club Corner as shown in my video.
And then exiting Club Corner shortly after use the orig highspeed left going Abbey corner just to approach the Bridge Corner with new challenging highspeed.

ByTheWay: The only issue is that until Reiza officially unlock this Historic track layout then we have to accept that the game refuses to time our laps.

 

Im glad to tell I was wrong on this part.
It is actually possible to get AMS2 to record the laptime for a TT lap on the unofficial Silverstone 1991 version .

If you select Silverstone 2001 and use both the mentioned smooth entrance to Club Corner and the highspeed Abbey Corner then the exact laptime is displayed as "Previous Lap" when you have crossed the start/finish line.
At least if you stop the car before this laptime is overwritten by the next lap.

I was able to lap at 1:16.261 and until Reiza does unlock this great track layout I consider it the unofficial WR for this track version.

I had an idea of creating an unofficial LB where people could post a pic of their fastest lap on this track version until Reiza unlock this track version - but after I have seen how many aggressive fake facts there have been posted in this thread then I only believe in my own honesty.
What became of the "fact" that iRacing could never have laserscanned this track version?

But the problem considering an unofficial LB is - that if you use this track layout then AMS2 consider the whole lap as exceding track boundaries and cannot destinguish between fair and unfair short cutting.

ByTheWay: But at least personally everybody can get timed how fast they can drive a lap on this great historical Silverstone version.

 

It's really an annoying topic but on the other side really interesting with which perfection REIZA rebuilt these historic tracks.
Here a comparison between real 1991 and Reiza's 1991 Club-chicane. Absolute perfect!

 

What you are asking for is the 1997-2002 "Historic Grand Prix" layout which Silverstone probably only used for vintage racing events.

While this would be cool... I have to take issue with this statement.

That is completely factually incorrect. The Club chicane was added in 1991 and used until 1993. Until that point it had been a straight blast from Stowe into the Club corner.

The smooth entrance to Club wasn't added until 1997; 3 years after Senna's passing.
In fact, Senna's passing was probably the catalyst for the Abbey chicane being added. To slow the cars down much like they did at other circuits in the remainder of that 1994 season (the chicane at Eau Rouge or the "Beirut" chicane at Barcelona as other examples that year). The profile of Stowe was also changed in 1994.

As I said it wouldn't be until 1997 that the "Historic" version of the circuit was added. The profile of the Club chicane itself hardly changed.

Also, regarding Mansell... I'd say the 1987 layout was probably his favourite. Owning to the classic victory where he reeled in Piquet's almost half a minute lead, breaking the lap record multiple times in the process.

Only the Luffield chicane breaking up the lap. Besides Mansell loved Silverstone for the fans... I mean they would always run onto the circuit to congratulate him on a win (he ran over a guy once when this happened if I remember rightly)

You'd get arrested if you tried to do that nowadays...

 

Also just to further put a nail in the coffin of "it was like this in the 90's". I found this aerial photograph on the NCAP (National Collection of Aerial Photography) website dated 12th July 1992 which clearly shows how the profile of the Club corner was.

Note there is no chicane at Abbey. Again, not added until 1994.

stop your effort and try to explain, this guy is not able to comprehend.
All our work is for nothing.
And, he just doesn't know what he want. On the one the hand the brilliant 1991 track from Reiza is wrong, on the other hand he wishes an alternative layout for the 2001 circuit.
My opinion is to finish this catastrophic topic, it never will get any result.
