Felipe Nasr came under pressure in the closing stages by Jack Aitken, but held firm en route to guiding Porsche Penske Motorsport to victory in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. It was the third consecutive win for team owner Roger Penske, Porsche and Nasr. https://www.autosport.com/imsa/news...-holds-on-for-third-consecutive-win/10792749/
I wonder if that long yellow flag period, during the foggy night was some record of 'hours under yellow flag' ?
Sheena Monk is one of my favorite female drivers in IMSA right now and here is her recent interview ahead of 2026 with Myers Riley. I liked how she talks about trusting the team’s system and focusing on the mental side of endurance racing. Worth a listen.
All this really nice talking here, and now this is the new motorsport physics: GP Racefans - Daily source of Motorsport on Instagram: "Leclerc's Perfect Description of the New Overtake Button The opening laps of the 2026 Australian Grand Prix gave us one of the first real demonstrations of Formula 1’s new Overtake Mode as Charles Leclerc and George Russell went wheel-to-wheel around Albert Park Circuit. Both drivers activated the new system on the straights, unleashing extra electrical power from the 2026 power units to gain a speed boost and attack into the braking zones. The battle showed exactly how the new regulations are meant to work: timing the Overtake Mode perfectly can create huge closing speeds and force drivers into defensive moves lap after lap. Leclerc tried to use the extra deployment to pressure Russell, while Russell responded by managing his energy and positioning the Mercedes perfectly to stay ahead in the early fight. It was one of the first strategic duels of the new era — and a glimpse of how intense racing could become with the 2026 F1 energy deployment battles. ⚡ ⸻ Media by: F1 (Formula One Management) Edited by: MyF1Obsession (YouTube) Video used for editorial purposes only. We saw a dominant performance by Mercedes in Australia but I expect a driver from another team winning in China.
I like how Max compared the new regs to Mario Kart... My personal opinion was it's more like Formula Need for Speed with catch up mode on! I really hope they adjust the regulations to turn it into proper racing again. Otherwise this will probably be the year I stop watching.
I actually really enjoyed watching that Chinese GP and the new rules are making the racing closer and more exciting.
Yup - I'm finding it confusing to see who is actually faster and who is just boost trigger happy. Or who manages the regen better. And that's not helped with ever flactuating gaps. I gave it a fair chance and after 2 races and a sprint I can say that I'm not a fan. I can see it being appealing to new audiences (so it brings in more viewers) but the loyal fans are just completely ignored. Which is kind of what pretty much every business does nowadays. Sadly.
Then you'll probably enjoy Formula E because that's what this is like. For me, I like conventional racing: Who's the best at cornering and braking and racecraft, not who's the best at using their boost button. Artificially forced overtakes are of no interest to me. I'm glad Lewis and Charles are having so much fun now, but I guess anything is better than what they had to go through last year I think they made the right choice by moving away from ground effect cars, lowering downforce, and making the cars smaller and lighter - they definitely look more lively on the track which is great. But seeing the cars slow down before the end of a long straight is just depressing. It's like they've sucked the soul out of the racing and it's no longer about pure speed and skill (and how good the car is).
