The gameplay was very good (not the stream). So I don’t understand why He became so quiet after that. You know when you are weeks before release.

Well, especially Imola in GT3 Gen2 on cold tires will feel stupid, can tell you so much already, so expect 1-2 pushed outlaps for the Michelins to come into window when 1.6 drops. Both LMDh and GT3 Gen2 will require good warm-up due to missing tire blankets.

Don't worry, you wouldn't be required to pledge 20000$ to drive an upper class GT in AMS2 :p

Yeah, that's only for the F1 cars, obviously ;)

You should have fun with that. Road Atlanta is a very excellent track, and you might find some cars you found less than enjoyable in the past went into rehab, they have now have changed their ways.

How does the current F Ultimate Gen2 compare to the 1.6 version? Or more to the point, I struggle so much with it, way more than Gen1.

Will I be in trouble with 1.6?

IMO the difference is the same with V1.6. The G1 is more direct and less sluggish. You can’t throw the G2 around as much

I guess it has to do with how both cars produce their downforce, kind of funny how IRL they changed the regulations so the cars could follow better, which worked for about a year. Then F1 teams managed to negate that and now we're stuck with pretty much the same problem (albeit maybe a bit better) and cars that are not very compliant at low speeds due to ground effect not working all that great at those speeds.

The game captures it relatively well, I guess, the G2 is fine and starts sticking well once you're in 5th gear and above or somewhere around that.

Just wait for 2026 with active aero to promote “closer racing”, I’m not entirely confident F1 teams will not find a way to promote “more turbulent air for the car following” instead.

But now I am even getting off-topic in the hype thread, my off-topic skills are excellent.

Edit: to make it a bit on-topic: I find it harder in V1.6 to follow in cars that significantly rely on aero since dirty air seems to affect me more now, because the "almost unlimited turn-in" feature has been removed, so I have to watch out more for washing out.

Well let’s take it back to topic
What car do you think has improved the most with the V1.6 physics?

There are many, but I fell in love with the GT1 McLaren F1, it can now hug the inside of a corner even while on throttle but there's a sense of danger at all times, while it is not that hard to drive in general. Yannik fell foul of it in Pouhon on Spa in the infamous stream.

Then again the R390 also changed a lot, especially on-power behavior improved drastically, it does not feel fast sometimes, but while it can feel "slow", it is actually very quick now and enjoyable to drive.

BMW M1 Procar seems all grown up too, I can not drive it well to save my life, but that's a skill issue I feel. The car tells me what it wants to and most likely is going to do, and after that, I mess it all up. Together with the F1 Retro G1, Vintage F1s, probably find it the hardest car to drive in the game.

Well, I could mention the Copa Fusca, but I deny the existence of that car :)

The ones I think have improved are the old F1 cars which have a lot boost. They used to just spin and be very hard, but now they’re really controlled

Oh yes, they are fun, and you get the same "wiggles" when powering out of a corner, not stable but also not entirely unstable.

You also have to brake a lot earlier now, I think I was about 3-4 seconds slower than my best time on Brands Hatch between V1.5 and V1.6, so it feels a lot closer to reality than before, comparing it to onboards from the era.

Which era/gen would you say? I am a big fan of the formula classics gen 3 and 4 which is closest to the 1990/1991 season - and I love them but if they get even better then I'm going to be a very happy boy indeed.

While those were naturally aspirated, they do drive better, in my experience the difference is not as profound as on some other cars though.

Aaah... does this mean the Mercedes-Sauber C9 might be... even more incredible now?

Last year with turbo on F1 was 1988, and even those were limited on boost, so F-Classic Gen 1 is the true: "everything goes" as far as boost goes.

Well, on current Le Mans I got up to 380ish before the first chicane in the C9. We definitely need to get rid of these chicanes ;)

Once they are nicely warmed up there is more grip than we have in 1.5?

    Yes.

Edit: Crimson corrected me, and his explanation is much better than my own.
