intrested in this too, as only 2 games have it implemented. But might be worth paying posting on the VR threads

I wish Reiza brought 1.6 beta to the ADAC Sim Racing EXPO. There was only one company that had AMS2. It seems to be a huge waste of opportunity to me.

I was asked this question a lot at the expo inbetween dodging questions about 1.6 and just nosing around at all the goodies on display.

It certainly would have gained a lot of attention if 1.6 was at the show, either officially or via a licenced 3rd party, but I'm sure they have their reasons for that.

Reiza marketing department to me seems like it entirely consists of Renato dishing out arbitrary timescales and announcements that always turn out to be wildly off the mark. I for one am currently enjoying the string of "plenty other previews" I was told to stay tuned for in the days after the 17th of September :D

Probably the main disadvantage of having a completely independently developed title is that you have to live with the more annoying quirks of the people that develop it without filter...

I suspect it was a distance (and therefore logistics) issue...note that US-based iRacing wasn't officially there either. Next year's expo is in Texas, so maybe then?

Iracing wasn't there, but a lot of the stands had it on their rigs and that's why I mentioned the "3rd party" thing, at least it would have given 1.6 a platform at much reduced cost and I'm sure some of the guys in the beta who were there (including myself) would have offered up time to help out.

Still, there's always next year for that. :)

I am really curious what you are basing these expectations on? When Kunos released the original Assetto Corsa it was, at best, a middling quality simulator with average physics, ok-eish graphics and a large but unfocused collection of cars. If it hadn't been for the likes of Ilya and other modders it would have disappeared into obscurity a long time ago.

It has taken Kunos absolutely ages to get the physics working to half decent standard in ACC, something that is effectively a one-series game, and the last time I tried it, albeit a long time ago now, it still had concrete filled tyres.

I really hope the AC Evo lives up to the hype but expecting it to revolutionise sim racing world on release seems awfully unrealistic. It will, in all likelihood, take them months to get it to a point where the majority are happy with the way it performs, graphically and physically.

I'm also looking forward to AC Evo but people's expectations for it are becoming unrealistic at this point, when AC Evo releases in 2 months what we'll get will be: 20ish cars and 5 tracks, not my words, Kunos words. So I'm sitting here thinking what are people expecting this sim to be in 2 months? What's the revolution they're talking about? Cruising? if you want to cruise go and do it in the original AC, its perfect for that, hell even BeamNG you can do it there no problem...
I expect a good product down the line with a fun gameplay loop, but to say it's going to revolutionize simracing is kinda unrealistic IMO.

People really, really want a comprehensive career mode in a sim racer, something like Gran Turismo 4 but with modern graphics, physics and AI.

You can include me in that group too, GT4 is still among my all-time favourites, although the AI in there has aged extremely poorly. AC EVO promises this, most of the sim community trusts that Kunos will deliver (with good reason) but we'll see...

And to keep this somewhat on-topic, I recall AMS2's career mode coming out next year (apparently). Any ideas on how that would be like?

Wait really? You have a source on that, not that I doubt you but thats... unbelievable in all honesty. I'm all for quality over quantity but only 20 cars and 5 tracks seems insanely small...

Include me on that yes, but GT4's career mode worked well because it was a constant stream of cars being gifted to you, every race you did you'd get a new reward, and that worked because GT4 had 700+ cars. I don't expect AC Evo to have even close to that amount..
Regarding ams2's career we have no idea how they'll make it.

Ouch... props on them for being upfront about it atleast but... that's very disappointing even as someone who wasn't all that excited for AC Evo. Hopefully it'll have a much better car/track count in a years time

20 cars, 5 tracks, and no mods during early access.
More cars & tracks will be added, and mod support is supposed to be implemented in the full version of the game.

It's early access thou not a full release. Things would probably change with the full release.

Mods by select devs. It won't be like AC, not even close.

Yeah I figured that wasn't the final car/track count (hence what I said right at the end of my post ;))

You guys really need to read the last sentence of my post :p

It was every championship/series rather than every race, but yes, the steady stream of rewards (and the resulting dopamine rush...) was key to why it worked. But you have to be careful to plan the progression so that you don't get a hypercar within the first hour or you end up like Forza Horizon.

I would say that the absolute minimum number of cars required for this format of career mode to work is about 180, which is the car count of Gran Turismo 3.

For reference, the original AC had 178 cars (90 is DLC) and AMS2 has 210 (54 is DLC last I counted).
