I'm going all in for 1.6. I've deleted iRacing yesterday and am not going to renew my membership. This better be good.

You deleted iRacing after yesterday’s update blog!!! That’s some decision. I personally can’t wait for the next iRacing update as there is some things in there that I’ve been waiting for. In fact given that and the imminent 1.53 update in American Truck Sim plus limited time, I’m not sure where AMS2 is going to fit in now.

 

AMS 2 has the "historic sim" niche on lock, that's the hole that AMS 2 fills the best. You get a lot of good modded historic content in AC and RF2 but due to that content being modded the quality varies drastically while in AMS 2 the quality is at a fairly consistent level largely due to said content being made by Reiza themselves.

I'd argue that Iracing's biggest drawback is the lack of historic content when we all know they could easily afford it. Tracks I atleast somewhat understand (though I don't think anyone would mind a track like Trenton being added even if it cant be Laser Scanned) but with cars? Makes no sense why they can't have more Group C or 90s GT1 cars. Atleast they're starting to fix that with adding 87 NASCAR stockcars, though it feels much more like a one-off than an actual change in direction.

 

I’m probably the only person who doesn’t really care for the historic content. GT3 and lmdh are my favourites and I’m really looking forward to the content that IMSA brings along with everything else (The Alpine at Road Atlanta looked really good)

 

Unlikely : same odds as flipping a coin 33 times and coming up heads every time.

 

Maybe before full update we can get access to 1.6 via release candidate like last years update with LMDh? I hope Reiza considers this. Would be great and would have positive effect for the discussions here

Yeah, AMS2's biggest strength to me is the way it captures historic racing, especially in regards to open wheelers: even in these current and previous release versions the classic bias ply or less advanced slick tires (anything from F-Vintage/Classic GT to F-Classic/Group C has been my go to from the beginning) generally tended to feel the best to me and "masked" some of the quirks of the 1.5 and below physics that were much more prominent on the more modern, engine-pushing cars. Combine this with Reiza's heavy focus on giving accurate depictions of historical tracks (Spa 1970 my beloved) and the end result was and likely still will be one of the best ways to experience the golden age of motorsports and by far the best non-modded offering for it

 

I think the real strenght of ams2. Is to fill the gap between Iracing and forza. Its not to serious but not to arcade. I am curious to know what cause this big delay since 17th september. And the radio silence confuse everyone. Its ready? , almost finish ? very buggy ??

 

I started playing iRacing because of IndyCar, but I've only played ATS and AMS 2 for the last couple of months anyway.
